Project 365 - Day 357: Magnificent Maddy
Backtracking to last Wednesday... one of the really fun things about visiting rosiewook is getting to see her dog, Maddy. More to the point, it's getting to see, over the years, the marvelous progress Rosiewook as made with Maddy (who was a rescue from a puppy mill).
Day 357: Excited to play...
The first time I came to visit, Maddy was new to the household and spent most of her time hiding from everyone. She'd spent most of her life in a kennel and really seemed to have no idea how to behave like we normally expect a dog to act. Each year I've visited she's changed just a little bit more... and this time, it was just so wonderful to see the absolute joy in her reaction to getting to go out back to play. She actually bounced around in excitement and, I have to admit, it made me a bit teary-eyed because it's so different from how I remember her being in that first year.
Rosiewook is standing next to Maddy in this photo (taken from above on the back deck, since Maddy is very shy around the camera), getting ready to throw the ball... Maddy still doesn't quite have the "return with the ball" part of Fetch down yet, but she does pretty well, and obviously loves the game as it is.
