“Blanche! What are you doing in here?!”

“What do you mean what am Ah doin’ in here, Dorothy? Ah need you!” Her accent is thicker than usual, just the way Dorothy likes it.

“Blanche,” Dorothy snaps, “go back to bed. You’re sleepwalking.”

“Ah’m not doin’ any such thing!”

“Yes, you are.”

“Dorothy Zbornak, what in th’ world is wrong with you?!” Blanche cries, missing Dorothy’s eyes cutting down at her covers. “Let me in that bed this instant an’ warm me!” Blanche demands, lifting the top quilt.

“Blanche!” Dorothy snaps, but it’s too late.

Blanche’s eyes grow round as the blankets are thrown off of Dorothy. She gasps at Sophia’s widely grinning face. “Come on in, Slut Puppy!”

Blanche stammers. “Wh-What?! H-How?!”

“I tried to tell you,” Dorothy snaps, “Ma insisted on coming to bed with me tonight.” She glares eyes at her mother. “Now I know why.”

“How did you know, Sophia?” Blanche demands.

“It was easy to put two and two together. You’ve both been grinning idiots every morning lately -- when you’ve had very few late dates this week, Blanche. You haven’t needed them, because my Dorothy’s been keeping you happy.”

Blanche stares. “That’s fine -- as long as you keep her happy too. If you break her heart, I’m putting a curse on you.”

“Ma!”

“You’re my daughter, Dorothy! No one breaks your heart and gets away with it! Why do you think Stan lost all his hair so young?”

“Oh, Lord!” Blanche groans. “This’s all we need!”
