Yellow eyes glare at the paltry offerings of the small refrigerator. She’s about to slam the door shut when a hand glides over her bare, blue shoulders and wraps an arm around her. “What’s wrong, darling?”

“If you could see,” Raven snaps irritably, slamming the door shut, “you’d know what’s wrong, Irene! I’m going to have to go back to work! Oh, don’t pout at me! You knew it had to happen sooner or later!”

“But why now?”

“Because we’re almost out of food!”

“I don’t need food,” her lover says, making Raven scoff as she pulls her closer against her and into her arms. “I just need you.”

“We need food, baby. We have to eat, and Rogue’s -- “

“Rogue’s not home yet,” Irene interrupts her with a grin, “which means we still have plenty of time to do whatever we want to do. Do you really want to leave me for a job?”

“Of course not!” Raven snaps. She sighs, knowing she’s taking her anger and frustration out on the wrong source. “But if you two don’t want to continue the lives we had before, I’m going to have to get a job, and if I want a halfway decent one and fair pay, I’m going to have to do it as a man.”

“You could do me as a man,” Irene practically purrs, finally lifting Raven’s scowl into a lovely, beaming grin.

“For an old, blind woman, you certainly have a voracious appetite.”

“Only for you, love,” Irene says, finding her lips without any hesitation at all and kissing them. “Only for you. Now why don’t we make up for the time we’re going to miss out on tomorrow while you’re out job hunting before our little Rogue comes home?”

Raven shakes her head, her long, red hair spilling down her back. “You’re irresistible.”

Irene grins. “We both know it.”

Raven laughs, lifts her in her arms, spins her around, and sits her down on the kitchen counter. Irene wraps her legs around her as Raven kisses her with growing more passion. Maybe a normal life won’t be so bad, she thinks for the first time, not with this crazy, amazing woman at her side and their kid who, in her own way, is every bit as wild and domineering as Raven. Hell, if she didn’t know any better, she could easily believe Rogue was truly hers.
And Irene truly is hers, of her own free will. Oh, yeah, life could be worse. Life could be a lot worse. She lifts her mouth free of Irene’s hungry kisses to ask, “Maybe I could knock over a supermarket later tonight while the kid’s in bed?”

“Raven!”

“Just tonight. It’d buy us another week here . . . “ She moves her lips to blow hot breath into Irene’s ear as she adds, “ . . . without me having to work.” She draws her earlobe in between her sharp teeth and nibbles it gently.

Irene’s breathing is becoming increasingly ragged. “Just the one?” she gasps.

Raven spreads her legs and slides her hand home between them. She strokes her wet curls as she dips her tongue into her ear. “Just the one,” she promises.

Irene groans as she moves against her hand. Raven’s other hand is supporting her lover’s head. Rather than move it, she grows a third arm and hand just to have the pleasure of running it across Irene’s breasts. She squeezes her and rubs her new thumb across her nipple.

Irene fights the urge to give in to the incredible passion her girlfriend is giving her. “J-Just the one.”

Raven grins. “We already agreed on that.” She slides fingers into her, scraping her gently with her sharp, red fingernails.

Irene’s head throws back. She’s ready to scream, ready to cum -- Moving her fingers out, Raven shifts her body again just as Irene’s gasping out, “No one gets hurt.”

“No one gets hurt,” she agrees, “who matters.” But Irene doesn’t catch her last two words as Raven’s newly formed shaft thrusts up into her. She screams as her lover holds her close, and by the time she comes back down, she’s ready to agree to anything Raven wants, the warnings she sees of their darkening future be damned.

Their future isn’t going to be dark. Her visions have to be wrong on that one, she tells herself, even if they never are on anything else. They have to be wrong for she loves Raven and Raven loves her, and what can possibly go wrong when two people love each other with all their hearts as they do?

“That’s my girl,” Raven purrs into her ear. She grows another mouth between her breasts, and as she bends Irene over across the counter, she sucks both her tongue into her mouth and her left breast into her other mouth. As she suckles her, she keeps all three hands stroking her body. Irene would scream from the intense pleasure radiating throughout her being, if her mouth wasn’t already full. Instead she gasps and surrenders, knowing full well she’ll always give Raven whatever she wants and promising herself, before she loses all conscious thought, that she won’t regret it. After all, they love each other, and in the end, that’s all that really matters. Neither the humans nor Raven’s actions will stand in the way of their happiness. They love each other, and in the end, everything will come right. Everything will come together for them as they’re destined to be together, her visions be damned.

Except that her visions are never wrong, and much later that night, while Raven’s out stealing, Irene has another that sends chills down her spine and tears pouring down her aging face. Her visions aren’t wrong. They aren’t damned. She, her beautiful Raven, and the love they share are damned instead, and there’s nothing she can do about it except let it happen.

In silence, their daughter sleeping peacefully and unwittingly in the very next room, Irene bows her head and cries for what has not yet to come pass but will. They’ll lose Rogue, and then Raven will lose her. Yet, despite knowing her own death is inevitable, Irene doesn’t cry for herself. She cries, as she does all things, for her Raven.

The End
