Law I: Every body persists in its state of being at rest or of moving uniformly straight forward, except insofar as it is compelled to change its state by force impressed.

Number One has always seen engineers as physical people, tied inexorably to their machines. But not her. There is no gravity around this one; inertia has no effect. She dances as if nothing can stop her.

Number One sits, alone, in a corner of the dimly lit club, and watches.

Law II: The alteration of motion is ever proportional to the motive force impress'd; and is made in the direction of the right line in which that force is impress'd.

She must… sense One’s eyes on her, must-

Number One does not indulge in such notions, but there is no other explanation when the girl is coming toward her, jeans hugging the lines of her thighs, as if pulled by some invisible force.

“I’m Winona,” the girl says, brushing shaggy blonde hair out of her eyes. “Wanna dance?”

Law III: To every action there is always opposed an equal reaction: or the mutual actions of two bodies upon each other are always equal, and directed to contrary parts.

It would seem strange to anyone else the way Number One revels in the physics of how they dance together. Winona moves in strict counterpoint, an opposing, mirroring force to One’s own. Winona smiles at her through the strobe lights, and it might be understanding.
