Title: Complicated
Prompt: Challenge #247: Complicated
Fandom: Noir
Pairing: Mireille/Kirika
Rating: PG
Word count: 248
A/N: Not my greatest drabble, but I felt the challenge prompt called for it; so I gave it a shot. The lovely ladies of Noir are not mine, I just love to play with them a little.
Summary: Musings of the youngest angel of death.

Black hands stained with death, symbol of slaying angels.

Duty bestowed upon us by Altena or perhaps by God?
We cannot say.

I started this asking for a journey to the past.
She started this so she could kill me.

Becoming Noir, Les Soldats, changing each other over months.

She still wished to kill me, I wished to be at her side.
She learned the truth, I learned I was a monster.

Her beautiful eyes blue pools of ice staring at me over the barrel of her gun; gazing at the demon that destroyed the life she should have had.

Blue eyes held hatred yet shone a gleam of betrayal; the betrayal of a partner, a friend...a lover.

She allowed escape with a defeated cry.
I allowed tears, defeated by the past that gave me Her.

I found myself with the only pair that would want a monster.
They took me in but all my soul-less eyes could see was the beautiful broken corsican.

I was a monster and she was a nearly heartless woman.

We fought each other.
We fought Them.
We fought back.

Through it all, her only shred of emotion was in my grasp and my only shread of humanity in hers.
Our grasp was as deadly as it ever had been.

It was difficult to understand as it transpired, perhaps even more now that it is over, but then, even in the end, maidens of death were never meant to be simplistic.
