Azula hears footsteps approaching her cell. She knows it's Ty Lee before she even looks up, from their light and graceful sound.
The girl, the traitor, stands outside her cell and says nothing.
"This is the third time," Azula says, her voice hoarse. "I'm flattered." Ty Lee looks the same as ever, but her eyes don't waver. She's more confident, as if she's finally been able to bloom once free of Azula's influence.
After what feels like an eternity, the barrier between them more than glass walls, Ty Lee says, "I never abandoned you." Then she leaves, and Azula wonders if she was ever really there at all. The only difference was that her mother hadn't spoken.
"Why?" she asks the empty room.
