personally, I find it important when I discover a writer with lots of fic, that the tags help me instead of confuse the hell out of me ( ... )

Even if I do use people's memories to look over their fic I find memories hard to work with myself. For one, you can't have any subcategories, which as you point out, would put all the RPS together. Most people who read Jsquared have no interest in JM/DB and vice versa. Unless I have two categories, CWRPC and Buffyverse RPS. And if you make a mistake it's a lot harder to correct it. Like in what order they should be and such. One mistake and you might have to start all over again. Since LJ started using tags I sometimes even forget to use the memories (although I try to always put new chapters of WIP in memories) and have to go back to do it later ( ... )

and I just realised I didn't say a word about tags, so engrossed in my memories problem...
I only use soemone's tags of I read a chapter of a WIP and want to find the rest
otherwise I always look in the memories

oh, well, maybe you can use it nevertheless :)

Like drabbles_spn, drabbles_rps, fic_spangel, fic_2006, etc.

That's very similar to how I tag things in my other journal and I've found it very easy for me. No one has complained, so I guess it works ok for others, too? ;-)

I'm wondering if you even need the underline. I mean, I have 'boys on their knees' as a tag. lol Also, I just noticed a few days ago, now you can have capital letters as well. Not sure when or why they changed that. But I accidentally used a capital letter and suddenly it's on the top of the list even if it begins with an 's'.

I foresee late nights growling over tags. *frowns*

At this point, probably not except it's easier for me. (when I did them originally, you had to have the spaces) I think the spaces, at this point, may just come down to your own preference. :D

*looks at own tags*

Well... since I write quite a bit and Lindsey's a manwhore that'll screw just about anyone and anything, I don't have pairinggs listed in my tags or my memories. I have things divided up by what it was written for (joss100, slash100 etc) and then the type it is if it wasn't for a specific community. (Lindsey Fic, supernatural fics, rps, etc), but I also don't have my tags listed anywhere in my journal where the entire list I've used can be seen. I have waaaaay too many tags for that, it would stretch out over 4 or 5 pages.

People are better off searching my memories for things.

Yes, I have tags for fanfic100 and Fetish Challenge and stuff like that. Also use the names of those fics that have multiple chapters or parts.

Thing is I'm thinking of changing my layout and wondering if I should make the main tags more visible and so more usable. I don't know.

You could put a link to your tag page so it won't screw up your layout if you wanted to.

The tag page only shows unlocked posts, right?
