(no subject)
Thank you to everyone who helped me with that article on fanfiction. I'm still looking for some SFW slash art for the header of the second part if anyone wants to offer but other than that it's pretty much done. If I had the time I would have loved to do a weekly spot kinda thing on fandom (I know they wanted me to) and try and cover more because let's face it, 4000 words don't even scratch the surface. But it's simply too much work and it stresses me out. So I tried to do my best, keep it light but not too shallow, informative but not too detailed, and focus on showing the positive side of fandom and fanfiction. The list of things I wanted to mention or dwell on but couldn't fit in is so damn long it's very frustrating, but I remind myself I wasn't writing a thesis or even an essay, it's just a light article. So, I hope the readers like it.
Anyway, I have been reading my Gunpoint fic from last year and damn, it's not perfect but it's still pretty damn good. (Modesty, what's that?) And I don't have to tell you the art was amazing, winchestergirl was a champion dealing with my often ridiculous demands and the result is pretty damn mindblowing. If you haven't looked at it yet I suggest you go check out her fanart post, complete with explanation and gifs of the process. (Btw, honey, there are still about 60 pieces of undone art on the list, I assume you're working on those right now? *winks* Ok, now she's going to kill me. lol)
But the reason I bring this up is that right now I'm listening to the playlist and damn, I love it so much. It physically hurts to listen to some of the songs because they capture the feeling I was going for so perfectly. I just checked and saw that the upload has run out on sendspace, both for the individual songs and for the zip file, there weren't that many that downloaded it to be honest. Which I think is a bit sad. I spent so much time choosing those songs and worrying over my selection, it looks nothing now like it did in the beginning, I'll tell you. But I think maybe it's a bit a thing of the past, making playlists for long fic? At least I don't see it done as often now as there used to be. Just a few years ago you couldn't really have a Big Bang fic without a playlist. lol
I just like to make playlists to get myself in the mood for writing those long fic because once they hit 20K or even less it becomes harder to jump right into them. Instead I tend to spend a long time reading through what I already have and suddenly it's time to pick up the kids or whatever and I haven't even started writing anything new. So I like to listen to the playlist on the bus on the way to wherever I'm going to write so when I sit down I'm in the right headspace. (I've been trying to do a playlist for my MA thesis for this exact reason but for some reason it's a lot harder when the story is Icelandic and not in English) And since I've already made it and the music is to me such a big part of the story, it feels stupid not to share.
I can't re-upload the zipfile to sendspace at the coffeehouse I'm at this moment but I think I might do it when I get home if anyone wants to download it.
