Sorry for being MIA. Need more hours in the day.
Not much to tell. I did a reading yesterday with a bunch of my fellow students and two "real" writers at a literary event downtown. Read two short stories from a collection I'm hoping to get published some day. People listening smiled and nodded so I think I did okay.
Am swamped with uni work. Have to turn in short editing assignments every week then a big one in December, need to write a movie treatment before Nov. 17th and finish translating Brokeback Mountain plus another short story before December. Think I might pick one from Terry Pratchett's new collection. Am also writing that 6 parted article about fandom and fanfiction which I have to hand in next week. And working on my MA story. So yeah, busy busy busy.
Also, am possibly going to do a year long project with six other women in 2014. We're applying for a grant at this institution meant to support cultural women projects. Basically we intend to explore, through creative writing, the impact of past women generations' lives and culture on women today. Both the negative and positive. No idea how we're gonna do it, I'm hoping the others have more of an idea than me. lol. I just feel honoured to have been asked to be a part of it.
Must admit, I'm getting a bit tired of uni. It's been fun but I have this itch to be writing real stuff, not spend all my time doing assignments, even if they've turned into real stories. Kinda looking forward to next spring and deciding the next step. Well, that and terrified. Guess I'm finally growing up. About time, I'm a year past forty. lol.
