you say pub! i say quiz!
went to my first pub quiz in ages! the last time i went to one was back when i was doing my MPhil in Glasgow University where it was set by postgrads for postgrads. I learnt a lot during those quizzes because you got a good sense of what made people tick. Like the bunch of philosophers who tried to show off their knowledge about philosophy by setting a quiz based on philosophy (that night didn't go down well with the crowd). but there were good nights too with rounds on James Bond (did you know his family motto is The World Is Not Enough? hee) and working out lyrics to ABBA songs (super trooper was on the list due to its reference to Glasgow).
last night was great fun cause it was a good chance to see how much pub quizzes have changed or not. there was an entry fee to this one cause it wasn't a student run establishment for one thing. but an entry fee also meant that the winning team stood a chance of winning 250 pounds much better than a pint of the brew of your choice back in glasgow :P
so how did we do? we came in joint 2nd and won a bottle of wine. yay! hee hee...my two proudest moments of the night was- identifying Honda as the team that had been taken over by Ross Brawn and declaring that a picture of a cave formed by basalt columns on an island in the Outer Hebrides was Fingal's Cave
