That Dramatic Oscar Mix-Up

I think the Oscar ceremony has not been so entertaining for a long time. That WTF moment generated so many memes. I only watched four out of the nine nominated best pictures: Arrival, Hidden Figures, La La Land and Moonlight. I don't dislike La La Land. I think Emma Stone is good, the director deserves a directing Oscar, but the plot is so-so. Also I think Channing Tatum's dance in Hail Caesar! is better than any dance scenes in La La Land.

Many say Moonlight is an important movie, and I guess it is nice that a black movie without slaves or maids won Oscar Best Picture. I will say it is the Picture of the Moment. Its win probably had something to do with the current political environment. Speaking of movies about gay people, I think Brokeback Mountain is a much better movie than Moonlight. Moonlight has no profound impact on me. To me, Hidden Figures taught me more than Moonlight about black people in the US.

Finally I feel I am in 2017. In the last few weeks, I was busy fangirling Keanu Reeves. I am so glad that he is back to the top. Last week he was the most popular celebrity on IMDb, his movie John Wick: Chapter 2 was also the No. 1 movie on IMDb. So I am thinking he is BACK. In March, I am going to watch Beauty and Beast and Ghost in the Shell. In April, a Bon Jovi concert, then in May I will visit Hong Kong. Anyway, a lot to be looking forward to.

movie, travel
