I think he is good as Capt. America, and he's pretty hot. It's interesting to see if he can lead a movie. His past boxoffice records were not very impressive when he didn't play a super hero.
I loved him as Capt. America, too. I think he can carry a film that is not a super hero film given the chance. And the right film. Chan got lots of good opportunities and grabbed them, now he he is doing very well. I hope the same for Chris Evans.

Snow Piercer is a Sci-fi movie and it is based on some French graphic novel. But since it's a 39.2M Korean production, maybe it will be less about visual wonders, but more about interactions among characters. I wonder which studio will distribute the movie in North America. Nowadays, marketing is very important.

When Chris has a buzz cut, I think he looks like Channing without a thick neck lol. In the past, the studios think they were interchangeable. I heard Channing auditoned for Captain America as well.
Bingo. Marketing is everything. A film could be terrific and die by the side of the road if not marketed properly.
Snow Piercer looks like it is not a film necessarily needing FX to make it interesting. It seems to be about people trapped on a train in a world of snow and ice and the cabins are all layers of social strata. That is what I picked up. If this is the case, there should be a lot of dramatic tension. Not so much big booms.
Tilda Swinton is always in something good. She was just filming Only Lovers Left Alive with Hiddleston. Another film that potentially could be very good.

True. I wonder how well The Eagle will do at the box office if it comes out this year, after Channing's three hits. Channing's Ten Year will be released in September. I wonder if it will have a wider release. I saw the movie last year at Toronto International Film Festival. As an ensemble piece, Ten Year doesn't have a focus.
> there should be a lot of dramatic tension. Not so much big booms.
I agree. I think the quality of a movie as a whole depends the director. I know nothing about that Korean director. I also don't know how big a role Tilda have.
When I watch a movie, I usually look for a good story and eyecatching visual presentation. I mean I wouldn't enjoy a movie just because the acting is good, such as Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
I loved TTSS. It was like having nails dragged down a chalk board, LOL. I know you found id dull, I found it utterly painful.
Tilda flits around lots of movies, I have no clue what the size of her role is in anything until it comes out. The Hiddleston thing is a vampire film but not the usual vampires given the director who is someone known for his off beat movies. I don't recall his name. The director is everything. The Avengers might have been a total washout had Whedon not been at the helm.
I think that Chan is pretty astute about what he does. I really admire how he has managed his career. I was totally floored when I saw that positive review of Magic Mike by the NYTimes. Not that the film and Chan did not deserve it but it was the sort of thing that could have been written off and it was not.
TTSS is the type of movie that I cannot feel attached to any character. It bored me to death.

The Avengers looks colorful, tells a simple story, and it makes me laugh. Whedon has done a good job.

Well, the critics always love Soderbergh. I think Soderbergh gave Magic Mike an indie touch. Overall I like it. Channing's dancing is insane. I also love his natural way of acting. In fact, I think those classically trained actors may not be able to play Mike's role well. So, have you watched Magic Mike? Actually I think watch it at home will be a better experience.
I planned to watch it on HBO when it is on. I don't have time for going to movies every week. I agree about classically trained actors not being able to do everything. Of course, Chan knows how to dance. And this is what i love and respect about Chan, he uses his experiences to make his character real.
