TDKR + Snow Piercer

TDKR it a good film (not great), I give it 4 our of 5 stars. Here are some of my thoughts.

1. There are many plot holes. One of the twists doesn't work for me. I like the ending though. Joseph Gordon-Levitt may have a role if Nolan ever wants to make more Batman movies.

2. Anne Hathaway is definitely the best Nolan Batman heroines. But you can see her movie fight is not great. She needs a better (I don't know if that's her or not) stunt double if she can't do it well. Can they hire someone from Hong Kong?

3. Bane is not Joker. With the mask, one really cannot see his facial expressions. Therefore I cannot judge Tom Hardy's performance. He looked formidable (oh the neck, thicker than Channing Tatum's), but he didn't give me the chill as Joker did. Also in the end, what happened to him? They didn't give the character a proper closure.

4. I often feel Nolan's movies' bare hand fighting scenes are not impressive. They lack the "wow" quality. TDKR is the same. No memorable fighting sequences.

5. I always like the music of TDKR, but in this one, I think it is too loud. I couldn't hear some of the dialogues.

6. The movie was dragged for too long, esp. the parts when Batman was trapped in the prison.

7. I like Batman and his Alfred.

8. This movie is actually an ensemble movie. I wish they focused more on Batman.

Now some news about Jamie Bell's new movie Snow Piercer. It's a Korean production with a budget of only 39.2M. It will be interesting to see how well it is received by the international market. The cast is quite good. Chris Evans plays the lead. Then there are Jamie Bell, two previous Oscar Best Supporting Actress - Tilda Swinton and Octavia Spencer. Also Luke Pasqualino, who played Lucrezia Borgia's stable boy in The Borgias. However, a good cast doesn't guarantee a good movie, e.g. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (one of the most boring movies from 2011). Snow Piercer will be a test of Chris Evans' boxoffice power. If he doesn't play Captain American, can he attract people to see a movie headlined by him?
