Nice to meet up with Renegades & other BCers on Wednesday, including FloraFloraFlora from the US (and good to know that her screenname was influenced by
this movie).
The "old firm" core of the Scum Off the Port Bow won the quiz on Thursday, walking away with a princely £2 each. Lucky we don't do this for the money.
Went to the
Cittie of Yorke for
kittensbroadway's leaving drinks on Friday. I was on the weissbier, which was quite drinkable. I'll miss her at work, but she wants to keep in touch - so making the subtle but good shift from "friend from work" to "friend".
My mum posted the receipts for the shirts she'd bought me at Christmas which were the wrong size, and I had to change them by this weekend, so I went to Croydon Debenhams yesterday. Also used the
Forbidden Planet vouchers
privatep32 gave me for my birthday - bought
Elektra Assassin, to replace the copy I lent to someone who I later lost touch with fifteen years ago.
Today I played
Gun - haven't quite finished it - the last few levels were annoying the hell out of me, by being too video-game. I couldn't be arsed to keep replaying the last boss fight till I won - he's wearing steel plate armour, throwing dynamite & using a
volley gun that somehow reloads instantly. Shame, 'cos the western atmosphere was there through most of the game - I loved the "quickdraw bullet-time slo-mo game mechanic.
Anyhow, rather than sit in front of the screen swearing alternately at Boss McGruder and the game's designers, I went out and jogged to the park then spent a happy hour practising throwing softballs. It's fun how the MP3 player has meant that everyone can now have their own personal music-set training montage. I found it oddly satisfying throwing for accuracy to the tune of 'Jesus just left Chicago' by ZZ Top, and decided that 'Jerk it out' by the Caesars was best for distance.
