Funky Town by Lips Inc was one of the music questions at the first pub quiz of the year last Thursday. A somewhat weather-depleted Scum Off the Port Bow managed a win to start the year.
On Saturday,
inkognitoh had her birthday drinks, at the
Uxbridge Arms, a nice place. Very convivial evening, well worth trekking through snow and ice for. The birthday girl wasn't the only one to get presents - I received belated birthday goodies from
minx2012 and Pete. Both Inkoh and I were given electric
self-twirling spaghetti forks - how could I have managed without one of these all my life? Also got a tremendous retro
64-in-1 games console. I think Inkoh liked the
Australian cookbook I'd got her.
The dodgeball season proper starts again next week, but last night was a pre-season practice session. Most teams didn't show up, so the players who did formed into two teams based around the Dazzlers and the Loan Wolves and played eight-a-side games against each other non-stop till the sports hall closed. Blew away a few cobwebs after Christmas. I'd been playing more Call of Duty: Modern Warfare yesterday afternoon. Which is why, when Garry threw a dodgeball that hit Kevin squarely in the back, I shouted: "Friendly fire will not be tolerated!".
