It was my birthday yesterday. I went to the Cittie of Yorke after work, with old friends and colleagues.
I'd booked us a table in the cellar bar, and it was quite cool to see "Reserved for [My Name Here]" on the chalkboard by the stairs. Actually, there was another function on; about twenty minutes after we arrived a large party of old age pensioners turned up for their Christmas meal. Someone commented on how clever I was to find a pub with a crowd even older than me.
I had a really great assortment of birthday cards, and some cool presents. Grow-your-own carnivorous plants from silverjet_allie, and a SpecOps-27 grammarian special forces T shirt from minx2012, and some cool books and DVDs among many other excellent things. Really good of everybody to come. I hope they all had a good time.
I am now 42. I still do not know the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything...

friends, birthdays, pubs
