Quiz won on Thursday. We dropped very few, despite there only being three of us Scum there. Dominic's threatening a handicapping system to stop "the same two or three teams winning all the time". But the pub was packed, so this doesn't seem to be driving punters away.
Didn't buy toast and coffee with winnings - the stall at Chancery Lane's changed hands, and the new people haven't got their order-taking and filling skills up to speed yet. The breakfast's not worth the long wait in a queue at 8.55.
The Law Society visit went well - highest rating in everything. The Dean sent round a fist-pumping "Yay us! Yah boo to BPP!" all-staff email on Thursday evening (BPP are our hated rival law school).
On Friday, David had his second leaving do, the "official" one. At the Peasant, with a generous tab behind the bar courtesy of the university. The Loan Wolves AGM was due to take place then, too, and ended up being amalgamated with the leaving drinks. To the detriment of holding any kind of coherent meeting. Rambling nattering was good, though.
Next day, once I'd recovered enough from my hangover (free Budvar on tap'll put a dent or two in your head the next day), I set off for Midlands to visit my mum for Mothering Sunday. I'd decided that the newly-released DVD of Helen Mirren in The Queen would make an ideal present for her, and bought her a copy. Sadly, so had my sister. Oh, well, the sherry and chocolates were appreciated at least...
Mum cooked a couple of lovely meals. For some reason, she was keener to cook herself than let me do it - probably 'cos she doesn't have occasion to do a full roast dinner so often. Due to having been messed about by Sky TV, she's currently enjoying a complimentary three months of free movie channels. so I watched Cinderella Man, the Longest Yard, Elektra, Narnia, King Kong and the Fantastic Four over the last two days. Mainly while mum was on the phone. which she was a lot.
