Flisters! I was away for most of the week after Christmas, and so I never got to post about my awesome Yuletide gift, which was the fantastic

Seriously, this story was SO AMAZING. If you've seen Edge of Tomorrow, read this story - the movie was so much more surprising and thoughtful and moving than I expected it to be, and this story does more than live up to it. It's beautifully written and compelling and everything I hoped for when I wrote my request. I'm feeling super-inarticulate here - I really loved it! A lot!

And if you haven't seen Edge of Tomorrow, go see it! It's so so good. And also called Live Die Repeat now, I think. It's so much better than the humorless trailers suggested it would be.

And as for my story, I wrote

True to form, I discovered several ridiculous typos/errors after posting it - I so love the challenge being on Ao3 for just this reason, I remember in the past desperately e-mailing the mods to correct typos and it's so good to be able to fix them myself. I also put the most generic summary ever in there as a placeholder and then forgot the collection was going live on Christmas Eve and never got to change it. Not that I write super-exciting summaries in general, or would have come up with anything better given more time, so I guess I should be grateful for the collection going live earlier than expected because now I at least get to pretend I would have eventually come up with something more clever.

The story was a lot of fun to write and think about; getting asked to write a Christmas story is kind of a dream for someone like me, who is currently sitting on the couch with a Hallmark Hall of Fame Christmas movie paused on her TV. Figuring out how to do one for Guardians of the Galaxy was a little tricky, and while I originally was thinking of going in a wackier direction, as usual I ended up drifting toward something a little more heartfelt and sappy.

Best wishes for a wonderful 2015 to all of you!

yuletide
