The weather report for Sunday was for a sunny day. It was like the light at the end of a tunnel.
New Jersey is the most densely populated state in the US. But, there are large areas of open farmland.
I know this means the cities are just that much more crowded, but it was still nice to drive through this part to get to the show.
It was a bit of a drive to the faire, but a nice one.
The problem with still pictures is you can’t see that our folks do move pretty fast. Here, the only sign
blue_micha and
perrin_o_ravnos are going fast is the bend in the straight sword due to the speed.
OK, sometimes not the sword.
To me, this shot sums up the faire.
So, with few patrons, no scheduled shows (we did two when no one was using the fight ring) we stole the faire’s “pillow joust” equipment and had fun
It’s hitting each other with pillows to knock them off the beam. Sounds simple, and is, but still fun.
One of the SCA guys came by in armor and proved armor is of no help in a pillow fight. And, it ruins your balance on a board as it moves up your center of gravity.
And, we did do shows.
People really seem to like when I crack the coconut with the bec de corbin.
I’m just glad it’s only the coconut that gets cracked.
As I said in another post, we broke a sword in that show. But, although a bit freaky, no real problems with it. The shows went well, folks liked them, and no major problems.
But, we had a lot of down time this show too.
Going home, the weather was great.
But, when we got on the New York Throughway, the traffic came to a stop.
I said “maybe on the next exit we should get off, get back on going the other way and take the next bridge north of here over the river”.
But, then we found the problem was on the other side and our traffic was only people stopping to look.
So, we stayed where we were and the traffic went away.
We made good time home and got in before 11. Now, it’s almost 3 and I still can’t fall asleep. Time to try again!
