Pre-registration means time to plan your life again

Sooo next semester I've got the following lined up:

-5 classes: 3 American Studies, 2 English--i.e. solely devoted to my majors to ensure I'll graduate
-at least 10-15 hrs of work
-extracurriculars: organizing events for study abroad returnees; writing as much as possible for The Voice; possibly on Club Filipino's Eboard

Is it wise to throw in an internship in there? They all demand at least 15 hours, and they're all mostly unpaid. Maybe I have a weird way of seeing internships here in DC, but I see them as a rare opportunity to try something new....not strictly "this is point A that will lead me to point B in my career." Is that naive? I'm not saying internships as random as home gardening are beginning to appeal to me, but I've found really interesting ones at the Smithsonian or in WETA, the local public television station, so at least they'll be in the media/communications side.

But then I think about what I want to do for winter break, and spring break, and then summer after graduation, and I can't afford all that if I don't work for a semester. I wouldn't be going anywhere, except to work for real. And not going anywhere would be even more depressing.
