Travel planning: a good excuse to procrastinate

I never realized how easy we had it in New Zealand. For practically a one-time meeting Shaq, we got our plane fare, bus/transportation, lodging taken care of, and even several activities. Of course, we spent one or two evenings in my room planning what we wanted to do or could afford, but basically, once we signed up for Kiwi Experience, either Shaq or Ba-ba (our somewhat sketchy bus driver) took care of us. I won't forget when we arrived in Christchurch and asked each other, "So...where's the bus taking us tomorrow? What's our schedule?"

This Spain trip, however...not so much. Or maybe it's because I actually have to balance planning it with the ridiculous amount of schoolwork I have to get started on. Morgan and I have gotten our plane tickets, we just bought our train passes, now we have to research and reserve/book hostels to stay in, as well as reserve tickets beforehand for some of the places we want to see that get really crowded, like the Alhambra.

We have some ideas down. Our highlights include:

Sevilla, Cordoba, Granada: all the mosques/Moorish castles
Madrid: party, the Prado museum, watching a bullfight
Tangier, Morocco: check out the medina and the souks, see a natural formation called "The Caves of Hercules"

Good grief, this is going to be expensive. But oh well. It's less than two months to go, and we better get cracking with our plans...as well as my final projects and papers. Oops.

travel, al espana
