chub rub testimonial, solution and product review. sorry, tl:dr

I whined mentioned on my blog that I used to hoard my solution to chub-rub: the "Slimming Skirt Liner" from Comfort Choice, which are basically the top from control-top pantyhose, and not "slimming" in any way unless you sized down. They were kinda perfect -- super super lightweight and breathable, didn't show under clothes, no "swamp ass" or ( Read more... )

so do you think the 4x would fit 60+" hips? there's no size chart to be found on that site anywhere!

I'm trying to think of what my hip measurements are, because there is a LOT of extra room in these tights.

according to my eshakti measurements, my hips are about 53" or 54"... so i would say yes to 60", that would probably be the max -- but really, that's just my guessing and stretching them out while i'm wearing them right now. also, keep in mind i have a relatively flat ass, so there is probably more extra room for my thighs. at $8, i'd still give them a try, and just have them shipped to the store for free (or see if they are in stock at a store close by).

kmart is SHIT at providing measurements and sizing.

i'm really sorry i haven't been more helpful than this.

I just bought a pair! Per the size chart on the back, 4x will fit 5'5"-6'0" and 220-300 pounds. Sorry that doesn't really answer your question but I hope it helps. I'll report back on how I like them!

Like most plus-size tights, I think the sizing chart for these is off. I'm sure I weigh between 320-350 and am 5'8, and after having worn the 4x for a full day, I can probably safely size down to a 3x. I wear a 24/26 on the bottom, with big thigh and a big waist, and they are pretty stretchy.

I will add, though, that they were sliding down to mid-knee this afternoon. The best adjustment was in pulling them up a little higher at the thigh, rather than at the knee, so they'd stay up -- which they have.

So, if I want a shorter length, I'll probably wear the 3x, and for longer skirts/dresses (most of mine are midi anyway) the 4x will be perfect.

Let us (or just me) know how they fit on your body!

I got leggings by mistake which are legging-y and not very stretchy and footless tights which are also not very stretchy. :( if any smaller fats are interested, let me know. I have 1x leggings and 2x footless tights. I'd say best for 16/18/20

"The material is SUPER soft and very opaque -- they are essentially capri-length tights (NOT LEGGINGS)."

Opaque means you can't see through them... but it sounds like to be tights they would be more transparent?

uh... i'm pretty clear on the definition of opaque, but thank you for your concern that i might not, in fact, understand the definitions of the words i choose.

i think most non-language- & grammar-policing people understand what it means when the word "opaque" is used to describe hosiery. in fact, it's pretty common.

i guess you tried to be snarky... and failed? but if you are truly serious and don't understand what is meant by a pair of tights being opaque, please either send me a message to my LJ, or try Google.

Actually, you'd said they weren't like leggings at all, but were opaque tights, and to me that's pretty much the same thing... so I was trying to clarify before ordering.

in that case, please accept my apology for taking your comment as snark and responding in kind.

In my experience, leggings are made from a jersey-like fabric, which is what makes them acceptable to wear as pants. tights, on the other hand, are like a thicker version of pantyhose and are generally considered to be opaque.

these shorts, then, are like a pair of opaque black tights.

i really can't give any more detail than this, as this discussion about what constitutes "opaque" is giving me a headache. i thought, and still believe, the term universal in terms of hosiery.

Question for my fellow fats. I and easily a size 24 -28 depending on the cut but I never get chub rub. I was speaking with a friend and she seemed to think it's because I have to moisturize extremely well because of my crocodile strength dry skin. I use baby oil gel all over daily. So is this what the chub rub cremes do? Moisturize the skin so that chafing is decreased?

no. anti-chafing creams provide a barrier between your skin and whatever is chafing against it, so that the 2 things glide, or slip, past eachother. in terms of chub rub, the creams reduce the friction caused by the thighs rubbing against eachother.

i moisturize my entire body, head to toe, daily, and have done this for more than 20 years, and it has never stopped my thighs from chafing. so while it's possible that your baby oil might be causing some kind of anti-chafing effect, based on my own personal experience it's not really possible. it's like, when you touch your armpit after you put on deodorant -- it's feels slick, like you're not really touching your skin. but when you oil up your body, it doesn't necessarily feel like that.

but we all have different bodies and different remedies for shit, so maybe that's what does it for you.

thanks I was just wondering because my friend swore all fats got chub rub and seemed surprised that I don't.

A lot of thin women get chub rub too. It is as much a matter of build as of size. I have wide hips but my legs are set close together on them. Your legs may be set further apart, or you may have less loose skin.
