Update:
The wonder factor is pretty strong these days. I've been out of work for a while now, since January. *sigh* I can't find work -anywhere- so I'm existing on unemployment and the few one day/one or two hour temp jobs that my agency can manage to find for me. Somehow, we're doing okay despite that. Nich's job is just going gangbusters- he got -another- raise. I'm so, so, so happy and proud of him, he's an amazing man and he deserves every good thing. He's such a hard worker. I adore him so much. I feel a lot bad at times for making him have to support me but that's going to change!
There have been some difficulties with getting into school- it seems nothing can go easy. But I'm facing them as well as i can. Turns out the school doesn't accept SAT scores, so I had to take placement tests. Breezed through the writing and reading, but i haven't taken algebra since my sophomore year of highschool, so that test didn't do as well. I passed with a good enough score to get into my program, but it was disappointing. =/
BUT! I passed, and that's the important thing. I'm working on my scholarship application for the fall semester, the summer is going to be... *sigh* it's going to be difficult. They go off of 2007 tax returns for the summer semester, and I can't claim financial hardship for having lost my job because it happened in January of 2009 and that's 2 years after the taxes, despite the fact that it's NOW that I'd be paying the damn bill. So I'm hoping the school awards enough despite me having made fairly good money in '07 for me to pay the full bill for the summer semester. If not we'll scrape by. I'm refusing to have this opportunity ruined because I can't pay.
On the happy note, we've tucked a lot of our tax returns and Nich's bonus away, but we did splurge just a little. The laptop I have now isn't cutting it for gaming anymore, so we found an MSI GX630 for under $800. The thing's a BEAST and it's soooo cool looking. It's also upgradable from what I can tell. <3 Nich is also getting a new tower, because we were able to pay off my laptop so he was able to purchase his through his work. He's getting an XPS from Dell, one of the big gaming ones, with a 20" monitor so he can dual screen now. They're only taking $20 or so per paycheck for it, it's an amazing deal.
We also managed to pay off some credit cards, so that will help later...
I think things will work out. I'm so scared to go back to school. I register in May, and I'm already chomping at the bit to get it done and get started. *laughs* The waiting is the hardest part.
