Doctor's Log #76: 29-05-10: Camper-van

May 31, 2010 20:22

A rare day of annual leave. It's Victoria day, so schools are out in Dundee. So a day with son #1, and an afternoon with son #2. I told them we were going to Camperdown animal park, and they looked very puzzled. After a while son #2 said "Why do animals live in a Camper van????".

The Camperdown Animal park is being updated again. There will be a lovely new entrance, and cafe. For now, there's a dirt path, and a portacabin to pay at. The animals are always worth a visit. Even though it was really warm today, we saw: Scottish Wildcat; Lynx; Wolves; Polcat; Red Bellied and Ring Tailed Lemurs; Ferrets; Bats; Wallabies; but no Nessie.

Wore my Five Fingers all day today - I was reticent initially, but they are so comfortable now. Not sure I'm up to running a few km in them yet, but I might give it a shot on Thursday. The barefoot running sites suggest running barefoot, carrying the Five Fingers until the soles of the feet get sore, then put on the Fives and run back. Thursday, then.

6 weeks ago I salt cured a piece of topside, and then hung it in the garage. I cut it open this week. It's fabulous. I'll be making some more, I think. Perhaps some venison next time. I fancy making some salami - I'll need book.

Watching Castle. It's nonsense, but good nonsense.

Making bunk beds tomorrow.
