Made the bunk beds this evening. They are remarkably sturdy, given the fact we made them. Boys seem to love them, and they seem to be asleep now...
A morning of putting stuff on to e-bay (anyone want a size 10 triathlon wetsuit, going cheap?), and entertaining Dan with some TMNT on Xbox. Then a donder down into town, the bank (who knew I had so many cheques in my wallet?), a MacDonald's Happy Meal for Dan (it was his special day, so he got to choose, despite me suggesting Subway 3 or 4 times), then off to Olympia for a swim. I say swim, it's more of a splash around with a load of kids on in service training days, like Dan.
Dan can't swim yet, but actually, he can. I took him to the toddler pool in Olympia, where it's only 0.9m deep, and he was able to swim 5 metres of front crawl, and breast stroke before stopping for breath. We did some floating, some gliding, and even tried some breathing. Dan did really well.
We celebrated with 2 goes on each of the red, blue and green slides. Dan refuses to wear his arm bands now, so it was interesting going into the plunge pool that is the same depth as the top of his head.... The river rapid big of the pool was good - Dan able to do more swim practice, with the benefit of the water carrying him along.
A Mars bar upstairs to celebrate the great swimming.
A short trip to the new running shop in town, nothing the Sweatshop doesn't already do, and I get a discount there.
I took Dan to GAME to pick a prize for his swimming successes. We chose Sonic Riders Zero Gravity. It's shit. So I'm taking it back tomorrow. Bah. The Wii has so many garbage games out for it - shovelware. I think I'll just spend more money and get New Super Mario Bros instead. And I pre-ordered Super Mario Galaxy 2, natch.
The SD card from my camera has broken. The plastic has just come off the side, and now nothing will read it. Which is a shame, because it has photos from yesterday's trip to Camperdown.
