Doctor's Log #75: 29-05-10: Dr Who?

May 29, 2010 20:19

Not been posting. Rubbish. So much for my daily posting resolution. I think it's because not much is really happening. But thinking about it, and looking at trainforatri shows I've been pretty busy with stuff, really.

Life portion 1: The swimming is going very well. Last weekend was the Derwent Water Wild Swim with the Outdoor Swimming Society. I've written a wee report of the swim on the OSS site. The weekend was awesome - we went for a lovely mile and a half swim on the Saturday, just the three of us, and the fish. Then the race, although interrupted because of blue green algae, was fantastic. Surprising how many people want to swim in open water in May. Training continues apace. I've registered for a 10K (!!!) swim in September, so I'd better keep the training up. Currently managing to train 4 to 6 times a week, and the trips away this year are all near to water... (Valencia, Barcelona, Malta...)

Life Portion 2: Work is very busy at the moment. I have a "mixed" bunch of juniors, and a registrar who makes my life twice as hard as it would be without her, and more work that I can manage in a day. But I have next week off, so what the Hell. Exams went without a hitch, but many of the students are whinging about failing, obviously. Revision sessions start next week.

Life Portion 3: Dan has two days off school this coming week - Victoria day, and an in service training day, such as they are. We will be riding our bikes, learning to swimming, building bunk beds, making a guest room out of Joshie's room, and generally having a good time. Josh is moving to a new bit of the nursery on Monday, just in time to spend only 8 weeks there, then go to school.

Watching Dr Who with the boys just now. I didn't see the previous episode, so I don't really know what the Hell is going on, but it seems like a decent enough story. And I know that Haldane bloke from somewhere, I'm sure.

In TB news: V is OK, but nothing too special. Caprica is a bit boring, to be honest. Human Target is good nonsense. Painkiller Jane was rubbish. Castle is nonsense, but I quite like it. I'm really looking forward to season 3 of Chuck, and I have ordered Burn Notice season 2 for the holiday. And I've managed to find the first season of Baywatch on iTunes!!!

Games: Finished Splinter Cell Conviction the other day. I liked the action bits far more than the stealth bits. And the story was madness, but overall it was good gaming for a while. Thermal Satsuma seems to be having a good time with Red Dead Redemption, so perhaps that's the way to go next.... I'm only half way through Bayonetta, and I have some more achievements to tick off on the Lego games, which are usually a bit of a laugh.

My shoulders are sore.
