I spent maybe an hour today reorganizing the two lower shelves of the bookcases behind my desk, partly because I love reorganizing spaces and partly because when I sat at my breakfast bar, I was looking right at the messiest, least appealing items stowed on the shelves. I wanted to get the unattractive items as low as possible and as close to the windows as possible where they would be difficult to see.
Before.
After.
My take-away from this exercise: I didn't really need to do it. The shelves weren't that messy to begin with, and they aren't really tidy now.
I did identify additional tidying up to be done. I should go through the contents of the three blue boxes and make toss/keep decisions vis a vis the contents. Ditto for the two boxes on the bottom shelf nearest the windows. The basket on top of the tan box contains seven years of income tax workpapers, plus the final submission. That I'll keep, rolling forward the years on file. I don't ever want to have more than seven years worth of documentation to discuss with the IRS.
Working on this little project delayed my daily walk until after 4:00 p.m., but I did still walk and documented my effort with today's picture:
As you can see, not a particularly pretty day, but not unpleasant, either.
I walked 1,378 steps today vs. yesterday's 1,258 steps for a 9% increase. Neither amount is impressive, especially since today I had to sit down on the lip of one of the raised flower beds and rest, mid-walk. I need to persevere. FanSee
