The beach, Christmas day

Dec 25, 2008 19:55

Jan, still wearing the garland boa Brooke had made for him yesterday, was at the beach. He'd yet to return to his room. Restless, he hadn't been able to sit still or sleep for more than a few minutes at a time.

He needed to be home. He needed to be home now, to discover what had become of the herd. He didn't even know if Tek had survived. His mate, his herd...

Rearing, he struck the ground with his forehooves, then kicked out with his back legs, wild with impatience. "When, Alma? When will I return home?" he demanded.

That same voice, quiet, still, calm. Patience, Jan. They come. Be still.

Snorting in frustration, he broke into a stiff-legged trot, ploughing through the sand, before taking up station on the small rise, staring out over the ocean. From the ocean he had come; by the ocean, therefore, he must return.

[ooc: Open, yup, and this is probably the last chance to catch him before he leaves tomorrow. The garland around his neck is red, in case anyone was wondering :D]
