The Perk, Monday Afternoon [3/12]

Mar 12, 2007 14:27

After a walk -- well, a slosh -- around town checking out which buildings looked like they might be in need of some repair work after the flood, Xander scraped the mud off his boots at the doorway to the Perk and ordered himself a very big cup of coffee and a very big chocolate muffin. Then he settled down, pulled his laptop out of its bag, and ( Read more... )

Aly...wasn't entirely sure why town seemed to have been half-underwater, but after dropping her things off at her apartment, the best place to find out seemed to be the Perk. Plus there was coffee. So she ordered a big coffee and detoured by Xander's table to say hi.

"Hey!" Xander waved and gave her a big smile. Then remembered that he was supposed to be frowning at her. So he did. Which probably looked a little insane. But only slightly because dude, Fandom; on the local insanity scale? Not that high.

She smiled back then tilted her head at the sudden frown and slid into the chair opposite him. "Xander. You look like a man with something on his mind." She grinned. "If you're going to blame me for the flood, well, I hate to break it to you, but I didn't do it."

"No, apparently somebody pissed off Poseidon. As you do." Xander looked out at the mostly de-flooded town. "Actually I was supposed to talk to you about mud-wrestling."

Hannelore hadn't slept all weekend, what with worrying about the flood. So she had made her way to the Perk, trying to keep as dry and clean as possible.

When she arrived, she immediately ordered her drink before she spotted Xander at his table, and gave a little wave.

"Hey!" Xander waved back. "You stay dry this weekend?" Nobody'd told him about any leaks downstairs, but it didn't hurt to ask.

Hannelore wandered over. "Yeah, which is good since...you know, robots. It stayed dry upstairs, right? I was worried."

"Yeah, I'm on the ground floor and it was fine," Xander told her. "Had some hot drinks out in the lobby for people, actually. Not quite up to Perk standards, though."

After this morning's conversation with Jack Isabel finally worked up her courage to leave the comfort and security of her room and venture into town. She spotted Xander as she entered the Perk and carefully snuck up behind him and covered his eye and patch with her hands. "Guess who?" she asked.

"Agckgah!" There might be coffee on his pants now. Just a little.

"I'm sorry," Isabel said quickly. "It's just me and I can fix that for you if you want? And hi, it's really good to see you."

"Nah, it's fine - like people could tell it from the mud anyway?" Xander brushed at the coffee on the knee of his jeans. "And it's good to see you too. Sorry, I just get a little jumpy about people touching my eyes."

Parker's Mondays have a nice routine: sleep in, get up, work out, then head into town. So it's late by the time she walks into the Perk to get a major mocha. Besides, she needs it after last night's lack-of-sleep.

She smile when she sees Xander, and wanders over after she's got her drink. "Hey, you. How goes it? Is Mauvaise Chance still standing?"

"Actually we stayed pretty dry. Even the basement," Xander says, pointing her to the chair opposite him.

Parker took the seat with a smile. "I have clams in my room. And a ruined comforter. They threw an octopus at me."

"...the clams did?"
