The Park - All Day Thursday

Mar 01, 2007 09:59

Lots of snow had fallen overnight so Thursday dawned cold and completely white.  The snow sparkled in the sunlight as the final touches were put on the carnival that had appeared during the night.

By midday, the carnival was open to all residents of the island, the snow still gleaming off of the the tents containing food, games, and ice sculptures ( Read more... )

Warm up with soup, hot chocolate, hot cider, coffee or gorge on carnival food galore because corndogs really only taste good from a carnival vendor.

Aeryn isn't really sure what she's doing here, except that if she doesn't get out and do something that won't cause more angst, her head is going to explode and she would like to avoid that. So she stops to get her usual plain black coffee and watches what's going on.

Isabel looked at the snowball in her hand then looked at Aeryn. She quickly decided she wasn't suicidal at the moment and dropped the snowball.

"Hi!" she said as she approached after stopping for a hot chocolate.

"Hi," Aeryn greets her. "Having fun?"

Ice Skating! once_a_king March 1 2007, 15:39:40 UTC
There are all sorts of skates to borrow and the ice is perfectly smooth and thick.

Setsuna was discovering the fascinating thing that snow didn't seem to effect her curse at all, which was mostly the reason she decided to check things out. Utter fascination and relief. And because it was pretty, but, anyway...

She tentatively strapped some skates onto her feet and tried the ice. She hadn't really skated since she was just a wee tiny girl, so it would be interesting.

Ami waved to Setsuna as she skated by.

Setsuna blushed a little as she waved back tentatively to Ami as she passed her by with a lot more skill than what Setsuna, with her arms out to help her balance, was managing, inching slowly along. She was glad to see Ami enjoying herself, but worried if skating was really something she should be engaging in after all that happened. She should be resting! But Setsuna was in no state to try to catch up with her and mention it. She was still growing accustomed to the skates.

Sledding! once_a_king March 1 2007, 15:40:22 UTC
The hill in the park has excellent sledding. Katara and Kowalski the penguin can attest to that.

Rosette had stepped out of the church to escape the overpowering scent of leeks and discovered a carnival happening. So she dashed back in, bundled up, and dragged Chrono out with her.

It was sledding time, dammit.

Kawalsky opted for sledding. The last time he'd done this, he had been a penguin. It was very different when you were using a sled rather than your own stomach.

Aly wasn't surprised at all to see Charlie on the sleds. She waited for him to finish a run. "Spending your spring break usefully, I see."

Ice Sculptures once_a_king March 1 2007, 15:42:15 UTC
One of the tents has a number of large ice blocks and all sorts of tools to create ice sculptures or just play with ice.

Ami decided that an ice sculpture was really a good way to take her frustration out. She worked carefully and achieved realizm she did not expect.

"It sort of happened." Ami said apologetically.

Snow Forts once_a_king March 1 2007, 15:43:21 UTC
Really, people shouldn't need just one area to snowball fight in, but this one has a bunch of snow forts and tunnels already built up.

Not one to be left out of the mischief, Nimitz bounds through the snow, finding his way into one of the tunnels. A toothy grin spreads across his lips. He finds his way through the tunnel and into one of the forts, immediately beginning to build his arsenal. Once he has a few snowballs at his disposal, his eyes shift around in search of a target.

Excusing herself from Chad for a bit, Annette decided to check out the snow tunnels for proper hiding when and if, they decided to play hide and seek. And oh my gosh these snow tunnels were amazing!

"Woot!" She squeed and snuck along, trying to find the perfect spot in which she could hide.
