Lots of snow had fallen overnight so Thursday dawned cold and completely white. The snow sparkled in the sunlight as the final touches were put on the carnival that had appeared during the night.

Warm up with soup, hot chocolate, hot cider, coffee or gorge on carnival food galore because corndogs really only taste good from a carnival vendor.

Aeryn isn't really sure what she's doing here, except that if she doesn't get out and do something that won't cause more angst, her head is going to explode and she would like to avoid that. So she stops to get her usual plain black coffee and watches what's going on.

Isabel looked at the snowball in her hand then looked at Aeryn. She quickly decided she wasn't suicidal at the moment and dropped the snowball.

"Hi!" she said as she approached after stopping for a hot chocolate.

"Oh," she said, remembering last summer. "That's right, I forgot. Yeah, I can see where you'd like this more. You should take advantage of it. Make John take you sledding. It's fun."

Aeryn tries to imagine that, and kind of fails. "You can really see me sledding?" she asks.

"Okay, probably not. At least not willingly," Isabel agreed. "But if you don't want to do that kind of sledding there's going to be totally moddable horse-drawn sleigh rides later on. Those are nice because you can snuggle under the blankets together."

"Possibility," she says, though she kind of doubts they'd even get that far. "I'm not actually sure whether he's coming."

"Really? Is he sick?" she asked. "That would be terrible if he had to spend his break with the sniffles."

"No, he's fine," she says. "In fact, we're supposed to see his family this weekend." Not that Aeryn's still torn about that or anything.

Isabel took a sip of her hot chocolate and raised an eyebrow. "That should be fun?" she asked, the question evident.

"I'm not counting on it, but it needs to happen," Aeryn admits. "And hopefully this way any arguments it causes will be less public."

"Understandable," Isabel agreed. "But who knows? Maybe it'll be a nice quiet visit. Stranger things have happened."

"I'm really hoping so. He hasn't been home since his mother died. I'd really rather not make things worse." She shakes it off. "I'm sure it'll be fine."
