The Perk [all morning]

Feb 26, 2007 08:17

Anakin was in the back corner of the Perk, holding the World's Largest Cup of black coffee between his hands and staring at the snow outside.

Maybe his arrival had gone unnoticed and he could have a quiet morning by himself to acclimate.

[OOC: But of course I'm not expecting that to happen. Chat away!]

The radio didn't exactly tell Aeryn anything about what's going on. She's pretty sure someone just said something about Anakin being Vader and the squirrels caught it. If so, she's going to have to kick some squirrels, if he didn't already send them all running or something.

She's spent the first part of her morning stalking Vader's office in case he's in there (yes, she did say she wasn't going back. She lied like a lying thing), then decided she should just go for a walk, and while she's out, she might as well get some coffee, because she's not going unprepared if she needs to throw something at him next week.

So when Aeryn gets up to the counter, it's kind of only by chance that she sees Anakin. And she's left kind of just standing there, not sure what's happening.

"Hello, Aeryn," Anakin said quietly, watching for her reaction.

When the barista tries to take her order, Aeryn tells her to shut up, instead stepping closer to Anakin's table.

She doesn't say anything at first, because the "um"s kind of don't need to be said.

Well, no, actually, frell it, yes they do. "Um."

"I'm not going to throw anything at you," he said, focusing on his mug.

Just in case she was wondering which Anakin this might be.

Isabel had actually missed radio last night because of Oscar mocking and avoided the podcast this morning, not quite willing to listen to the details of the memorial service.

In the mood for caffiene in a more elaborate form, she headed to the Perk, got herself a large mocha and a muffin, then settled down at a table with a sudoku puzzle book. As she opened it, Isabel glanced casually around the room at the other patrons, only to stare openly when she noticed the person sitting in the back corner.

Anakin gave her a small smile. "Good morning," he said conversationally.

"Yeah, hi...morning," Isabel said weakly. Meanwhile her mind was trying to figure out what freaky bit of Fandom actually brought Anakin here, if it really was him, and would warning him about tall, dark, and scary cause the universe to explode.

Anakin's smile widened. "Relax," he said softly. "It's really me."

John hadn't missed the radio broadcast, catching mention of Anakin's name in his sleepy daze so it hadn't really registered.

Coming into the Perk this morning, hoping to get some sweets and hot chocolate, his first glimpse of Anakin is followed by a huge smile.

"Oh my god, I'm dreaming."

Anakin gave him an answering grin and stood up. "You dream about me often, do you?" he asked, coming closer.

"All the time!" John said, nearly bouncing over. "You and penguins! Dude! You look good. In a platonic way. We thought...but you're not!"

Anakin chewed on his lower lip. "Yeah," he said. "Kind of a long story."

Rory had had a tough night, but thankfully, she had slept.

That said, she still woke earlier than usual, and still needed coffee. With Luke still sleeping in her bed, she had carefully crawled out, gotten dressed, and toddled down to the Perk - looking a bit healthier than she had recently, but still sleepy.

It was only after she'd ordered the largest mocha she could find and a muffin that she noticed anyone else there. (It is Rory and coffee, after all. Anakin or no, she's got a one-track mind.)

So she said the only appropriate thing. "Hi."

"Good morning," Anakin replied politely.

"How are you?" she asked after a moment.

"Better now," he replied softly.

Oops.

Covering quickly, he picked up his mug. "I have coffee."

Molly hardly ever listened to the radio any more. She hadn't last night either. Her being in The Perk today was just a zomg amazing coincidence. She wasn't even looking to see who else was in there before going up to the counter to order a hot chocolate.

It was only when she turned away from the counter to look for a place to sit that she saw him.

"ANAKIN!" she yelled in shocked, happy surprise. Dropping the cup of now forgotten chocolate, she ran at him, intent on hugging the life out of him.

Anakin stood up quickly. Getting knocked out of his chair would be undignified.

"Molly!" he replied, hugging her tightly. "It's good to see you."

Molly held on to him, with no intention of letting go anytime soon. "Luke said you died and everybody else was sad, but I knew you weren't really dead. I mean, not yet. Luke said you died before he was born, but he never said how old you were then. I knew it wouldn't be yet. Luke was from your future even though you had just left here. He never said how far in your future. You probably haven't even met his mother yet and then who knows how long it will be before you decide to have a kid..." She could go on like this for a while, if Anakin let her.

Anakin wasn't quite up for laughing just yet, but his eyes sparkled. "Breathe, Molly," he told her. "I'm here for a while. You don't have to tell me everything in the first ten seconds."

Moving the conversation away from his wife would just be an added bonus.
