The buffet tables were set up with all the standard breakfast fare: scrambled eggs, home fries, pancakes and French toast, sausage, bacon, and ham. One of the NPC servers was manning the grill for any custom omelet orders

After Wilson had insisted for the umpteenth time that he was well enough to go a brunch, and he wanted to get out for a bit and meet some people, damn it, Aziraphale relented. Bundling the young doctor in warm clothes (and hoping in the mild weather it wasn't noticed that his own winter coat had gone missing), the angel accompanied Wilson down to the diner and settled him at a table.
"I won't be but a moment," he assured the other man, and headed off to get the cheese and tomato omelet and hashbrowns that the young doctor had requested.
On his way, he offered a friendly smile and nod for the young man who appeared to be running the place.

Eventually it would sink in that the angel wasn't wearing his winter coat, if for no other reason than the fact that the angel looked damn good in that coat!
For the moment, however, Wilson was content to sit at the table and watch as Phale gathered up some of their favorite brunch time yummies. He smiled when his lover returned with the omelet and hashbrowns and a cup of coffee.
"Coffee!" Wilson gleed with genuine joy. He'd been on a no coffee diet for almost a week and was jonesing.

The angel had his own omelet, as well as a crumpet and jam, and the ubiquitous cup of tea. He laughed softly at Wilson's reaction, and set the cup of coffee in front of the man.
"I would have expected that sort of response to a real meal, but I should have known you'd reserve it for the coffee instead," he chuckled. "Now, love, take it easy, and don't go flitting about the place trying to socialize with everyone you see."
Yep, Aziraphale was feeling a wee bit on the protective side. Imagine that.

Aziraphale turned to see where the remark had come from, blinking a bit himself in puzzlement.
"I beg your pardon, I don't believe we've met?" he said uncertainly, trying to figure out what the man might have heard that would cause such a strange reaction.

"Pleased to meet you, Dr Venture. I'm Aziraphale, and this is Dr James Wilson." Aziraphale smiled, deciding to give him the benefit of the doubt. After all, there was no reason to assume the man had intended to be insulting in any way.
"You have a business in town, don't you?" he asked. "I think I may have seen some posters or something."
Re: Eating and Minglinga_phaleJanuary 7 2007, 18:29:50 UTC
His expression darkening just slightly, Aziraphale frowned.
"And why in Heaven's name would anyone want to enable a group of self-righteous holier-than-thou bigots to counteract every living mortal's right to Free Will by taking away a decision so very fundamental as the right to decide whether or not you want to be as you are born?!"

"The money. D'uh," Dr. Venture said. "Course all the protesters thought like that. Had to appease the people and all that. Hey, I'm not saying I'm homophobic or anything. My best friends in college are now a couple."
Re: Eating and Minglinga_phaleJanuary 7 2007, 18:40:02 UTC
"That isn't the point, my dear. It isn't about being homophobic, it's about altering the way a person is made, without their consent. An unborn child can't decide whether or not to have his or her genes altered, and they have as much right to Free Will as anyone else. What if you discovered that you had been meant to be born a girl, but someone decided that they'd rather you were a boy, and so they altered your genes so you'd be born that way? Don't you think you would have wanted the right to make that sort of decision yourself?"
It was possible that Dr Venture unwittingly stumbled across the single worst possible topic of conversation to engage in with Aziraphale.

Okay, admittedly only three, now.

Aziraphale knew absolutely nothing about science, but Dr Venture sounded quite proud of his 'scientific empire', and so the angel was curious.

Dr Venture...may have struck a nerve.
