An Arkham City fic.

Summary: During the events of Arkham CIty, Kon hears Tim call for help and rushes to his aid. But when he reaches Gotham, all traces of Tim are gone. So now it's up to Kon to dress up as Robin and enter the city to find Tim himself.

Note: Someone commented that Tim from Arkham looks like Kon dressed as Robin then Tim does. So it got me thinking and this lovely idea popped into my head.

Pairings: Tim/Kon, Bruce/Selina, and maybe Dick/Babs

Warning: There are spoilers from the game in this, so don't read if you want to ruin the game for you.

Part 2

The city lights quickly came into view to as Kon was quickly approaching Gotham city, and which in seconds was now hovering over the dark city. He looked over the city below him, keeping his ears open for the familiar beat of Tim’s heart. But there was nothing, no beat, no breath, or whispers from Tim. Dread filled him when he realized that he couldn’t hear anything from Tim and feared that he might be…

No.

Tim was still alive. He just knows it.

There must be something blocking his hearing from Tim. He must surround by titanium steel or something. Yeah, that has to be it.
Hovering right over the edge of city, Kon spotted a tall tower in the middle of Gotham, with high walls surrounding the tower and a part of the Gotham at the center. He could see helicopters flying low over that part of the city with spotlights over the buildings. It wasn’t hard to guess that’s where Arkham City was located, the same place that Batman, as Bruce Wayne, made a statement of the city before being ambushed.

He thought about heading to the docks first since that’s where Robin’s normal portal spot was, until he heard gun shots coming from his right.

Coming from Wayne Manor.

Casting a glance toward’s the docks of Gotham city, Superboy headed to the manor to see what was up first.

Wayne Manor quickly came into view as Kon landed in front of the large house to find that the front doors wide open. Well, actually smashed open was more like it. The double doors were in pieces with large chucks of wood hanging off from their hinges, barely. Stepping over what was left of the front door, Kon picked up faint noises coming from inside the manor, as well as voices, a lot of voices. Narrowing his eyes, Kon extended his super earing throughout the manor and listened.

“I found someone! I think they fell!”

“It came from over here, I’m sure of it!”

“Where the hell are you?!”

“I think I hear something over here.”

“Nightwing’s here!”

It looks like the party has already started without him, and Nightwing was the host.

Staying within the shadows, Kon hovered in the air and slowly floated into the manor and down one of the many halls that led to the main hall, where the voices were coming from. He continued to listen to the voices that belonged to the invaders of the Wayne Manor, from what he can tell with the gunshots and aggression as well as the panic, too. The sound of a body hitting the floor quickly fell on his ear; followed by another body hitting the floor soon after that as the voices were beginning to grow louder as he got closer. Landing near the end of hall he was in, only a couple of feet away from the edge, Kon quietly tipped toed over to the corner and pressed his back against the wall. Slowly, he peer around the corner, making sure that he wouldn’t be spotted when he stuck his head out. Thankfully there was no one around but a body lying not too far from where he was. Taking a quick look around, Kon emerged from the corner and slowly moved over to the body and kneeled down next to it.

It was a thug when he got a better look at the guy, criminal obviously from his built and the tattoos on his arms. Plus there was clown mask he wore, and Arkham City coat was kind of a dead giveaway, too. Inches from him laid a large gun, just out of his reach. Obviously when this guy fell the weapon fell out of his grip when he hit the floor. Kon checked for a pulse, relived to find one, fearing that the guy was dead.

Another cry echoed throughout the main hall, loud enough for him not to need his super hearing, it sounded like it came from over the railing and right below him. Crunching down and staying out of sight, Kon moved over to the railing and peered down to see one remaining thug standing over another that seems to be unconscious. The thug had his back turn towards Kon, to busy checking his buddy, to pay attention to his surroundings.

And that’s when he made his move.

Jumping down behind him, Superboy ripping the gun out of the guy’s hand and grabbed the back of the thug’s head and slammed him face first to the floor, knocking him out cold. He crumbled the gun into a ball and tossed it careless over his shoulder, narrowing missing Nightwing’s head, who came down from the rafters.

“Hey, watch it!” said Nightwing.

Kon jumped in surprise and whirled around with a fist raise to take on whoever dared to sneak up on him. But he quickly relaxed once he saw it was just Nightwing and let out a sigh of relief. Dick raised an eyebrow at the raise fist that was about aimed for his head but didn’t say anything once Kon lowered his hand.

Kon rubbed the back of his head, looking a little embarrassed. “Sorry about that, thought you were another thug or something.”

Dick shrugged it off. “It’s fine, he was the last one anyway that I was about to take out. But it seems you beat me to it.”

“Yeah, well I saw an opening so I thought I take it.”

Dick nodded, walking pass him and kneeled down by the two unconscious hugs and started to tie them up. “It’s cool, made my job a little easy. So what are you doing here Superboy, I believe you are banned from Gotham if I’m correct.”

He blushed faintly. “I am.”

“Well, it’s nice to see you again kid but this is a really bad time to visit and to try to get on Batman’s good side. Things are chaotic at the moment for us.”

Kon frowned. “This is anything but a visit.” He looked around the mansion. “Where’s Robin? Is he okay?”

Tying up the last thug, Dick peered up at the clone from underneath his bangs. “No, he went off into Arkham City from what I’ve heard from Alfred.”

Kon’s heart stopped when he heard the mention of Arkham City, the super prison of Gotham.

“When?” his voice came out a little more demanding then he wanted it to but didn’t care.

“Not too long after Bruce was dragged off into the prison, like he planned. Why? What’s wrong, Kon?”

The clone clenched his fists to his side, trying to control his raging emotions, before he let out a sigh and uncurled his fist, looking to Nightwing. “I heard Tim call my name from Smallville. He sounded like he was in real trouble, and in pain.”

“What? When?”

“Five, ten minutes,” he shrugged, unsure. “I rushed over here as soon as he called my name. But when I reached the edge of Gotham I couldn’t find him, not even his heartbeat.”

Dick was already on the move before Kon could finish his sentence, heading towards the library, leaving Kon behind. Seeing Dick leave, and not sure what else to do, he followed after Dick while giving him his space, remembering bats do like their personal space.

“Alfred.” Dick raised a hand to his ear and spoke.

There was some faint static before the old butler’s voice came to his ear. “Yes, Master Richard?”

“I coming down to the cave with Superboy, I need to check something.”

“Very good sir. I assume our little problem is taken care of?”

They reached the clock that hid the entrance to the cave. “I have taken care of them, just need to call the police to come and take the garbage out.”

“I will call them right away.”

“Good, I’m on my way down now.” Dick cut off the line and headed down the dark steps of the batcave with Superboy slowly following behind him.

At the bottom of the stairs, Alfred stood waiting to greet them with the bat computer on and ready to go behind him. Dick gave the old butler a quick nod to him before rushing over to the computer, typing madly into it. Kon took the time to stop by Alfred to give him a proper greet to him then Dick. Once the hellos were out of the way, Alfred and Kon moved over to the computer and Nightwing as he brought up what looked like medical statues and charts of some kind.

“Alfred, do you know when Tim’s last check in was? Did he make any contact with you or Oracle while I was upstairs?” Dick asked without looking away from the screen.

“I’m afraid not sir.” Alfred’s voice took a sad turn that Kon did not like, with a grim face to match. “I was going to tell you this, after you dealt with the intruders, but… I’m afraid Master Timothy’s has gone MIA.”

“MIA?” Kon’s heart stopped a third time that night.

“Yes, but I believe Miss. Gordon was the last one to speak with him before he disappeared off our raiders.” said the old butler.
Dick wasted no time to bring Barbara Gordon on screen, who seemed a little surprise to see them on her computer screen.

“Barbara, please tell me you know where Tim is?” Dick tried to sound strong there was an obvious plea in his voice.

Like Alfred, Barbara had grim news. “I’m sorry, Dick. But I’ve lost all readings on him, his vital signs have all drop. His signals are dead and his communication is cut. I can’t pick up anything on him at all. I’m so sorry.” He voice was starting to chock up a little at the end of the bad news.

Superboy’s body when completely numb when Barbara delivered the news, feeling nothing around him, not even the small bitter chill of the cave. He didn’t want to believe it, he refuse to believe it. There was no way that Tim could be gone, he couldn’t be…

… dead.

He was stronger than that, too smart to get himself so carelessly killed, it couldn’t be true. But in the back of his mind he knew it was, that little voice of logic in mind telling him otherwise and to accept that his boyfriend was indeed -

“Wait a minute.” Dick frowned, facing Barbara on the screen. “All the signals are cut off?”

“Yes, his vital signs and any other signals his suit would give off.”

“Even both of the homing device in his suit?”

Barbara froze on screen, her eyes widening as the realization quickly dawned don her. “Yes… even that one too.”

“Master Richard,” Alfred came up to stand beside Nightwing, his expression matching Oracle’s once more. “Do you think…”

“I don’t think Alfred, I know.” With a determined look, Dick began to type madly into the bat-computer, Barbara following his lead as she began typing into hers.

Kon stood in the back, lost, watching both Nightwing and Oracle working furiously onto their computers as if their life depended on it. No. Not theirs, maybe…

“What you doing?” he finally asked, stepping towards Nightwing at the computer. “Can someone tell me what I’m missing here?”

“Robin is still alive.” Dick answered without looking up from his work.

“What? Are you sure?”

The computer pushed Barbara’s image into the top corner, while bringing up what looked like a lay out of Tim’s Robin suit. A bunch of numbers and other mumbo gumbo that Kon couldn’t begin to figure out what it all meant, nor did he wanted to, came up.

“This is the Robin suit’s blue prints. And if you look here,” Dick clicked on a few things on the computer before a couple of red spots suddenly appeared on the suit, “these are the built in devises that are planted in the Robin suit. There are a total of five of them and each one is pacifically design for an important purpose, especially one, and that’s the backup homing device."

Kon raised a curious eyebrow. “Backup homing device?”

The screen focused one specific red doubt on the suit, right by the collar, and in large screen. “Every suit is implanted with a homing device, in case something happens to us and but have no way to reach the rest of the family. Now, there are two homing devices in the suits, the first one is the normal tracker in the suit that is always on but it’s not so well protected from electrical shocks and can be damage if the person in the suit has taken quite a heavy beating. Now the backup device is a little different from its counterpart. Unlike the first one, this one is heavily protected and hidden better than the first one. The first one can also act like a decoy if we get capture and fool the captures to think they got the homing device. The backup is always on line, even if we’re dead it will stay on.”

“Master Bruce went to extreme measures to see that every suit of ours has one of these devices, since Master Jason’s death. To avoid a repeat of the past, you can say.” Alfred added in.

Kon nodded, looking to the screen and then back to Dick. “So this device is always up and running.”

Dick nodded, glancing back to the screen. “Yes. But like Oracle as informed us, all readings on Tim are lost, which means that there is something up.”

“So Tim’s not dead?”

“No, I believe he is alive, somewhere in Arkham City. I think he’s been caught and the backup device was somehow shut off as well as the rest in his suit. Clearly someone doesn’t want us to find him or locating him where ever Tim is being held. But whoever did this is smart and realized that Robin would be heavily wired if he ever did get caught.”

“Alright, so if Tim is being held hostage somewhere in that hell hole, shouldn’t his captures informed you and the bat?” Superboy asked.

But Dick shook his head. “I don’t think this is a ransom thing, something else is going on here. Barbara?”

Barbara’s screen came out of the corner and enlarged in the center of it. “It looks like Robin sent a message right before he disappeared off the radar. I couldn’t answer him at the time, trying to hack into the TIGER system during the time. I’ll play it.”

Again, Oracle shrunk and moved to the corner of the screen as the recorder popped and clicked play as Tim reported in. “Oracle, this is Robin. I know you’re busy and Batman is not answering in right now, but this is important. While in Arkham City, I’ve been gathering information on Hugo Strange and this whole operation. It looks like Strange is planning something big, called Protocol Ten. It hasn’t been easy but I’ve been able to gather enough information in Arkham to find out Protocol Ten’s purpose. What it is-“ a crash cut off Tim before he could finish and the message ended from there.

Barbara appeared on screen, looking disturbed. “I’ve tried to track the last location where Robin was when he gave me this message. But I can’t locate it, there’s too much interference and it looks like TIGER is blocking me. It’ll take some time for me to be able to locate it.”

“It seems Tim got way over his head.” Dick said grimly. “From the message it’s obviously that he was caught while sending it. If he is capture, I’ll have to go in and go get himself.”

“That’s going to be a problem, Dick.”

“Why?”

“Arkham City is in pure chaos and Batman is having trouble keeping it all in order byself. He needs back up, badly, and I hate to say it, but you can’t waste time trying to find Tim.”

“That’s bullshit, Barbara! He’s my baby brother and he needs me.”

“But so do the politician prisoners.”

Both Dick and Kon looked lost.

“It looks like those that protested against Hugo Stranger were arrested and thrown in Arkham, you know to hush them up, just like he did with Bruce when he spoke out against him. Bruce is trying to save and protect them while he’s in Arkham, and dealing with the big boys in there, but he’s just one man and can’t be everywhere at once.” She explained.

“I see you’re point.” Said Nightwing. “Damn! If things are really getting that bad in there, I wouldn’t be able to look for Robin at all.”

“So you’re just going to leave him to die?!” Kon all but yelled at Nightwing, echoing off the cave.

“What am I supposed to do?! I can’t leave innocent people to die in that hellhole, Tim would never forgive me if I ignored lives to save his!”

Kon winced slightly, knowing that Nightwing was right. “Yeah but…”

Dick’s anger sizzled away when looked at the pain look on Superboy’s face. “Kon, I know this is hard but… there are lives here at stake and I can’t ignore them all for one.” He rested a hand on the teen’s shoulder. “This pains me as much as you, Conner.”

He didn’t look up to Dick, his eyes downcast as he stared at his feet.

A loud cough from behind caught both of the heroes attention, looking up to Alfred. “If I may be so bold, Master Richard, I have a suggestion to our situation. Why not let Master Conner go into Arkham City and find Master Timothy for you?”

Instantly Kon perked up at that suggestion. But Dick frowned. “I don’t think that’s a good idea, Alfred.”

“If Superboy entered the prison it will cause a large scene, not to mention possibly bring those in the Justice League to adventure into the city, thinking it’s okay for them to come since it’s okay for Superboy.” Barbara pointed out. “And that will only make Batman angry, too.”

She had a good point there, Kon admitted.

“Then Master Conner won’t be Superboy.” said the old butler, with a sly smile on his wrinkled face.

-----------------------------------------------

“Man this thing itches like hell!”

“Ah, quit you’re whining, kid.”

Kon grumbled under his breath and scratched around the mask.

Standing before Dick and Alfred, Kon was dressed in a red, green, yellow, and black suit, Robin’s suit. It was a little different then Tim’s old suit, who now dresses in Superboy’s colors, (much to Kon’s pleasure) for the armors was a little thicker and harder the then old one. The gauntlet were also different then Tim’s old ones. They were padded with armor and filled with hidden slots that Kon couldn’t even begin to sort through all out. His boots weren’t as heavily as the armored like the suit and gloves and actually let light weight and easy to move around in.

“I don’t know how you bats can stand wearing these masks all the time.” Superboy complained once more.

Dick ignored him and looked him up and down before looking towards Barbara on the screen. “What do you think, Babs? Think he’ll pass as Robin.”

She made hmm sound, tilting her head to the side as she studied Kon. “Maybe, the body built is defiantly different, and people are defiantly are going to notice when they see his face that he’s not Tim.”

“Which is why I took the liberty to make this.” Alfred came up behind Kon, placing his cape on that had a hood on. Flipping the hood up on Kon’s head, Alfred stood back and stood with Dick. “Now how’s that?”

“Better.” Oracle answered. “With your face hidden it will be a little harder to tell.”

Superboy turned to look at the mirror that Alfred pulled out earlier, and looked at himself from head to toe. He had to admit it, he looked good as Robin.

“You two better hurry up, things aren’t looking so good right now in Arkham. Contact me when you guys get there.” With that, Barbara disappeared off the computer screen.

“Alright.” Dick clapped his hands together. “Before we go, let’s go over some of the gadgets you will be carrying.”

Kon made a small little whine. “Do I really need gadgets? Can’t I just use my powers, it’ll be a lot easier.”

“I’m afraid not, Master Conner. The point of you dressing up as Robin is so that no one realizes who you really are.” answered Alfred.

"He’s right, you’re powers will be a dead giveaway if you use them in the city. Come on, there isn’t too much and I’m sure you’ll have fun with them.”

Somehow, Kon doubted.

Kon followed Dick to the weaponry, already making a pile for Kon and a pile for himself.

“Okay, you’re first weapon I’m sure you know well from Tim,” Dick threw a bo staff to Kon, barely catching it as it extended in his hands. “The bo staff is Tim signature weapon that I’m sure you are aware of. This, hopefully, will help you be more believe as Robin. Now, if press the little bottom on the middle of the staff.”

Kon looked at the middle and saw a small bottom like Dick said there was. Pressing it, a large shield extended from the center of the bo staff and quickly retracted when he let go of the bottom.

“Cool!” he explained.

“It’s a new thing that we came up with that Tim hasn’t quite used yet.” Next, Dick picked up the grappling hook. “With this I’ll let you cheat on. It’s tricky to use, swinging from building to building. So you can fly and create the illusion you are swinging if you want.” The next item looked like some sort of gel gun. “This is exploding gel. You place the gel on any weak surface and then press the bottom on the side to detonate it.” Placing that down, Dick picked up a small object that looks oddly like a iphone that can extend. “This device you will defiantly need. This little guy is a computer that can hack into security systems and picking up radio signals. Alright then, I think that’s about it. The only thing left are the R shuriken, but other than that, that’s it. Any questions?”

He nodded, his face determined as he looked to Nightwing clenching the bo staff in his hands.“Yeah, when do we leave?” He was ready to kick some Arkham butt.

I'm open to ideas is you guys want to to pitch them to me. I already got the plot figured out but I'll take them on.
