An Arkham City fic.

Summary: During the events of Arkham CIty, Kon hears Tim call for help and rushes to his aid. But when he reaches Gotham, all traces of Tim are gone. So now it's up to Kon to dress up as Robin and enter the city to find Tim himself.

Note: Someone commented that Tim from Arkham looks like Kon dressed as Robin then Tim does. So it got me thinking and this lovely idea popped into my head.

Pairings: Tim/Kon, Bruce/Selina, and maybe Dick/Babs

Warning: There are spoilers from the game in this, so don't read if you want to ruin the game for you.
Part 3

Arkham City was a lot bigger then Kon expected, now that he got closer look at it from above. And let me tell you, the place was not a pleasant sight. There were ruins of the city at the water’s edge, a few wild fires at the saw mill, gangs running loose in the grime of the city, and the dirty snow that threaten to cover a layer over the place did not help the city’s appearance either. It was pretty much how Kon picture this place, if not a little more dirtier.

Dick’s squirming in his arms brought him back to the situation at hand, as well as the awkwardness too. He liked Dick since he was Tim’s older brother but this was a little too close for comfort for him with the former Boy Wonder.

“Land by the church, over there?” Dick pointed out now that they were over the city. “Make sure the choppers don’t see you or anyone else.”

Kon nodded and began to drop down to the church’s graveyard, landing in the shadows of the church.

“Alright we’re in.” Dick pressed a few buttons on his rest that was built into his suit, and then looked up to the walls of the church. “The church seems the safest place here in the city for now but its empty at the moment thanks to the Riddler.”

“Poetical Ten, will commence in eight hours.” Hugo Strange’s voice echoed above them from the speakers.

“That’s not good.” said Superboy.

“No, it’s not. Whatever Protocol Ten is it can’t be good if Tim was risking himself to find out what it was, as well as get himself caught.”

“So what do you want me to do?”

“Your mission is simple, Conner. Track down Tim’s steps here, see where he’s been. Hopefully that will give you some clues to figure out where he is, or who took him.”

“How in the world am I supposed to figure where he’s been when I had no idea he was here in the first place? I may have x-ray vision but that’s not how it works.” Kon scowled.

“Oracle will help you out there.”

“But I thought she couldn’t track him?”

He shook his head. “She can’t track him now. But before, his suit gave her signals to where he has been, where he was before the signal dropped. You still want to do this, kid?”

“Of course. Do you even have to ask?” he glared at Nightwing a bit.

Dick chuckled in response. “No I guess not.” He rolled his shoulders and then clapped his hands together. “Alright, this is where we part ways. From here on kid you are on your own. I’m off towards Two-Face’s territory and work my way from there to Penguin’s.”

“Wait! What if I need your help if I’m in a jam, or something?”

“Like I said, Oracle will help you. And if you do need assistance, you’ll find allies here in Arkham that you may not realize you have.”

He stared at the older man, lost. “Allies? What Allies?”

“You’ll have to figure that on your own. Good luck, Conner, I’m counting on you to find my little brother.” With that said Nightwing pulled out his grappling hook and shot it to the nearest building and disappeared, leaving Kon alone in the graveyard.

Kon watched Nightwing go, gripping the bo staff tightly in his hands, until he couldn’t see the former Boy Wonder anymore. Sighing heavily to himself, Kon looked at the old graveyard around him, not sure where to really start looking for Tim in this hellhole. With his super hearing, he could hear the many chattering voices of the criminals here in Akrham City, and about ten or eleven weren’t that far from where he was. He’s going to have to be careful while he was here, keeping to the shadows so the inmates didn’t see him to start a fight or try to kill him. And he was pretty sure the later was going to happen a lot then the first.

Taking Nightwing’s advice, Kon contacted Oracle to help begin his search for Tim.

“Uh, Oracle? This is Black Robin, do you read me?” he said through his earpiece under the hood.

There was a moment of static before Oracle’s voice came through. “Hear you loud and clear, Black Robin. You and Nightwing made it through Arkham City with no trouble?”

“No, they didn’t spot us when we flew in. Nightwing just left for Two-Face’s territory and I’m standing in the middle of an old graveyard by a huge church.” said Kon, or Black Robin, his codename in this case for this mission.

“You ready to adventure into Arkham?”

He sighed. “More than less.”

She giggled faintly before sobering up. “Okay, I gathered a few clues to who could have taken Robin while you were going through a brief with Nightwing. I made list of suspects already but I have to warn you, it’s pretty small."

“Small or not, one of them has Tim.” Kon glared down at the tombstone in front of him. “Give me the first suspect and I’ll find that bastard and make him talk.”

“Easy there, tiger,” Kon made a face at the name and knew Barbara was smirking on the other end, “we’ll find him. You need to keep your head clear and not go on a ragging rampage, or you’ll never find him.”

“Just give me a name.”

“Fine, fine.” She sighed. “The first suspect on the top of the list is Edward Nigma, The Riddler. He’s been keeping a low profile here in Arkham City. He hasn’t ready showed himself as far as we know; only just projecting his images on a screen. But he is causing problems for us; he kidnapped the medical team that was sent in here, using them as bait for Batman to solve his games. He also as men working undercover for him that are part of Joker’s, Two-Face’s, and Penguin’s gangs.”

“So since he kidnapped the medical team you think he kidnapped Robin too, without anyone noticing.” said Superboy.

“That’s right. I was able to track where Tim has been in Arkham and it seems the church was the first place he went to. But I still don’t know if that’s where his last location was before he disappeared.” She confessed.

“It’s okay; at least I got a lead on something here. Black Robin, out.” Cutting of the connection, Kon looked up to the church, towards the burnt bell tower, that was covered in green question marks. Riddler’s trademark.

Sighing, Kon moved forward in the graveyard, heading towards what he believed was where the entrance of the church was. The tombstones were old, looking to have dated about more than two hundred years or so. It was a shame to see graves as old as these to be disgrace into this god forsaken place now, have the inmates to trample over them so carelessly. Kon came to the edge of the graveyard and was greeted with a tall wall. Of course he could have easily flown over this, if he was Superboy. But here he wasn’t Superboy, he was Robin, and Robin does not have super powers, including flying.

So he will have to do this the hard way.

Looking around his surroundings, Kon tried to find something, anything, that he could possibly stand on that could help. But of course there was nothing. Figures.

Huffing in annoyance, Kon went back the way he came from to see if there was another way out. The graveyard was surrounded by tall stonewalls and the tall black spiked fence that didn’t look to be a good idea to try to climb over. He finally did find an entrance that looked to go inside the church, hidden behind a tall shrub, but found was locked tight when he tried to open it. The medical team must have made sure to lock all entrances to the church that wasn’t the front entrance, being sure not to get some unwanted visitors. But other than that, there was no way out of the graveyard. Growling in frustration now, Conner headed back to the wall again to see if he possibly missed something. But of course there was nothing there and nothing has changed, no way for anything to help him.

That is until he spotted an old stone bench that sat away from the wall, hidden behind an old tombstone. Seeing the bench an idea struck Kon as a sly sneaky smirk slid across his face.

Turning his back to the wall and not paying attention to the bench, Kon moved away from the wall, moving away enough from it so he can us his TTK to slowly sneak the bench to the wall. Dick said not to use his powers here if he can, but only use them if he was in a bad spot or cheat to make it look like he was Robin, or something.

With the help of his TTK, Kon got the bench to the wall without making it looked like he did, resting it at the base of the center of the wall. Once the bench was in place and pulled back his TTK, Superboy moved back to the wall and jumped on to the bench and jumped as high as he could and grabbed the edge of the wall. Hauling himself up, Kon jumped up to the top of the wall and did a perfect flip that would make Tim proud, without powers, and stuck the landing.

“Yes!” he cheered, arms raised above him with a smile fully of pride on his face.

“It’s Robin!”

Whipping his head forward, seven large prisoners stood no less than twenty feet away from Kon, standing right by the church entrance.

… Aw crap. Was the only thing that went through Kon’s mind before someone shouted ‘Get him!’, and all seven of them came right at him.

If Kon were Superboy, he would have taken all seven of these guys down less than a minute, with his hand tied behind his back. But since he was not, Kon was force to hold back his powers and fight like a normal human, fight like Robin.

Fumbling with the bo staff in his hands, Kon barley missed the first fist that was aimed for his head, doing a flip in the air to miss yet another hit. The staff in his hands extended with a push of a button, like Dick showed him, and quickly got to work against his opponents. Thankfully, Kon has sparred with Tim so many times in the past that he knows all of Tim’s moves and can copy most of them just from watching Tim preformed them. So far he was keeping a holding his own just fine without his powers, winning the fight and taken the prisoners down without killing of course.

With the swing of the staff, Kon knocked the last one out with a whack to the head, causing the inmate to crumb down to Conner’s feet as he was out cold like the rest.

Kon stood over the inmates, a smile full of pride on his face, as he swinging the bo staff through his fingers. “That’ll teach all of you to think twice of messing with me. Hahahe… ow!” the staff extended again and whacked him in the side of his face. Even though it didn’t really hurt, it was still a reflex.

Rubbing the spot where he whacked himself, Superboy moved to the main entrance of the church and entered inside.
The church was a mess inside; gurneys laid scattered everywhere as well as medical supplies. There were a bunch of candles lit to, especially around the large pipe organ at the other end form where he stood. Above him was a large white theater screen that looked to have seen better days, for it was filthy and had a few large moth holes around the edges of the screen.

“Better start looking for clues, I guess.” Activating his x-ray vision, he began looking through every inch of the place, leaving no place left unturned.

With his x-ray vision there wasn’t much to find. There was nothing out of the ordinary here, only what he was sure that medic team moved and did while they were here. But nothing really said that anything cause by the Riddler here, other than the larger screen he put up. Since he was all by himself here, Kon used his super strength to move some of the wreckage around to help him find some better clues that most people might look over.

For a good twenty minutes, Conner has searched every inch of the church and found no clues what so ever of Tim ever being here, or if the Riddler took him.

Balling his fist to his side, Kon felt his irritating rising at his lack of evidence of finding his boyfriend and wanted to punch something (or someone, he wasn’t picky) right now.

“Riddle me this.” Kon jumped in surprise, looking around him for a moment until he realized the voice coming above him. Peering up, Kon was greeted with the face of the Riddler on the large screen. “What do you call a crow dress as a mockingbird?”

It took a moment for Superboy to realize that he was asking him a riddle and waiting for him to answer. Shoot! He wasn’t very good with puzzles; he can barely do his own locker combination at school during his first semester. (He remembered it! He’s not stupid… he just doesn’t like dealing with stupid codes and all) It’s just his luck that his first supervillain for the night here had to be the Riddler.

“Uhh…” he bit the inside of his cheek. “A… pretty birdie? He smiled sheepishly.

But the Riddler frowned and narrowed his eyes down at Kon. “Wrong answer, the correct answer would… an imposter.”
Oh shit.

“And by the riddle I gave you, it just only confirmed my suspicion that you are indeed not the real Robin.” He said casually. “So now riddle me this, who is man parading around as Robin, hm?”

Okay, he can handle this, he can handle the Riddler. He’s dealt with Brainiac, Lex Luthor, Toyman, Metallo, and even Darksied for crying out loud, and so many more. Surly he can deal with one little human, a human that was insane and an I.Q. that almost revivals Batman’s itself. But he can do this; he can deal with the Riddler and get him boyfriend back, if the creep has him.

Putting on his best bat face, (that’s the look he likes to call when Tim gets all serious and acts like Batman) Kon stood up straight and stared right at the Riddler. “If I answer that, then there will be no riddle for you to answer yourself.” He patted himself on the back for that.

The Riddler just scowled in response, his eyes sweeping over the room and Conner, too. His eyes linger a little longer on Kon, more then he would like, before the scowl washed away to a disappointment. “You’re not worth my time to waste my great brilliants on a Neanderthal like you. Unlike the real Robin, you are nowhere near my level of intelligences to be any kind of challenge. But if you see that little brat, tell him that he won’t be so lucky next time at out smarting me.” He growled.

Hearing that, Kon was able to pick up his first lead. “Next time? So you already came across Robin?”

“Of course I have! Everyone here in this city has had. Have you been living under a rock, actually don’t answer that. Most likely you have been if you are this brain dead.”

Kon ignored the last comment and continued his questioning. “So you did. And from the sounds of it, he solved your every riddle, humiliated you that bad, huh?” He couldn’t help but grin in pride for his boyfriend.

Anger burned in the Riddler’s eyes behind his glasses, making Kon wonder if he might have pushed it a little too far.

“I swear, once I grab that bird I will puck every feather from his body and crush him so hard until he is completely brain dead and a living vegetable!”

It took a lot of will power on Kon’s part not to react to the Riddler’s threat to his boyfriend, dispite his early uneasiness he had for the man before.

The Riddler was about to go on another roll of threats when something caught his attention, looking away from Kon, thankfully. “It looks like the Dark Knight has completed enough of my riddles to find one of members of the medical team that I abducted. Sorry, fake Robin, but I don’t have time, nor do I wish, to play pointless games with you that I know you won’t be any challenge to me. Good bye.”

Before Kon could get another word out to the Riddler, the Riddler’s image flickered away, leaving a blank screen behind for Kon. Growling in anger, he clenched his fist to his side, with the staff still in one hand, as he felt his hear vision ready to come on any moment. He couldn’t believe he just got blow of so easily by the Riddler, of all people! But he controlled his anger as his eyes cooled as he began to calm down.

Finally, taking several deep breaths, Superboy left the main hall of the church and headed back outside to the cold night.

“Oracle, its Black Robin.” He said in his ear. “I’ve found the Riddler, he didn’t take Tim.”

“Are you sure?” she responded.

“Yeah, he came across Tim for the night already, and knew I was a fake instantly. From what he told me, Tim solved all his puzzles and riddles with little trouble, and the Riddler wasn’t too thrilled with that. He then went on a rant about how he was going to get back at Tim and make him suffer or something. Plus, he seemed more focused on Batman then Robin too, at the moment.”

“I see.” She sighed. “Well, that’s one off the list then.”

“So who’s the next suspect?” a burst of cold air and snow in face greet Kon when stepped out of the front doors.

There was pause on Barbara’s side for long moment before she answered. “You’re not going to like who I‘m going to tell you.”

“Just tell me, Oracle. I’m not going to like anyone you’re going to tell me that possibly has Robin.”

Barbara paused again on the other side, biting the inside of her cheek.

“Oracle.” Kon was starting to get impatient. “Who’s next?”

She sighed heavily and finally answered him, only it was an answer he wished not to hear. “The next suspect… is the Joker.”
