Title: Say Goodbye
Characters: David Sinclair, Raina Dominguez(oc)
Thanks to CP and was inspired by a song of the same name by Theory of a Dead Man

David sat in the ruin of what was going to be his baby’s room. Every day he sat there for hours staring at the walls. It had been four months since ‘ it’ never came home. For the first week they wept together openly, like nothing would change their relationship. Slowly she became more distant to him, and then the yelling started. What was worse was the guilty silence, like they hadn’t done enough either of them to save their child.
He heard something deposit outside the door. Looking up he saw his fiancée with a packed bag looking at him tiredly. Raina looked gaunt with lack of sleep. “Don’t make me say it.”
“What do you want me to say it instead?”
“I’m leaving David. I can’t take this any longer, and I can’t love you anymore.” The ring he gave her is no longer on her finger he notices.
“Is there anything I can do to change your mind?” It’s a token protest and they both know it.
“A one way ticket is a pretty good sign.”
“How can you leave this all behind?”
“There is nothing to leave behind.” The finality in her voices strikes like a knife to the heart.
“We lost our child in case you can’t remember! Why must I lose you too?”
“I think you lost me a long time ago.” Raina smiles sadly.
“Raina, No. Please.”
“I have to go. The rest of the boxes of stuff are in the truck already. I have a flight to catch. Goodbye David.” She let him standing there begging. That was the last he saw of her. What she got up to from there he never knew.
So he said goodbye to his apartment, one hand on the wheel and a foot on the gas. He said Goodbye to his mother in New York after she helped him get his life together. He said good bye to the thought of it all lasting forever. Because he’s learned good times never last.
He said ‘Hello’ to the FBI in Quantico. Then he said ‘Hello’ to L.A. Next time he’ll take it slow and try to understand. He said goodbye to saying “goodbye”.
