Wacken ticky box list!
Right, I'm sat around waiting for hellbound_heart so it's time for the Who Do I Want To See At Wacken game! (Note, the bands in this list will probably constitute less than one-fifth of the bands I ACTUALLY see. These are just the ones I'll be actively scheduling around...)
Going down the current billing list in alphabetical order:
Axel Rudi Pell - ridiculous German guitar heroics are among my favourite things. Expecting this to be one of the feelgood highlights.
D-A-D - AAAAAAH MY MAD DANES ARE BACK <3333 I will dance, I will sing, and I will absolutely definitely cry myself into a puddle if they play Grow Or Pay again this time. Ahem. >.>
Dimmu Borgir - who I have never seen live. I feel this is a COLOSSAL oversight on my part and will rectify it forthwith.
Hammerfall - are the signature band for my in-house 40K AU, and I love them to death. Cannot possibly miss them.
Ingrimm - I am possibly more excited about seeing these guys again than I am about D-A-D and that's saying something. Ingrimm are the spirit of Wacken, to me. Again with the "going to cry", also, although in this case it'll be Letzte Reise that does me in...
Insomnium - saw them in York but once frankly wasn't enough. More of that please!
Megaherz - I wasn't expecting to see these guys at Wacken but if they're there I'll grab the chance and watch them. I predict a violent outbreak of dancing.
Mono Inc - see above as per Megaherz. I'm never quite sure what I make of these guys but I bet they'll be fantastic live.
Moonspell - "orchestral and acoustic set" could go either way, but if it works it'll be amazing so I will definitely be giving that a chance.
U.D.O. - more German awesome! I owe Udo a bit of a personal debt - it was his set that picked me up during a bad moment a Wacken or two ago, so I'll go and watch him purely out of gratitude for that incident if nothing else.
Watain - OH FUCK YEAH. I haven't seen Watain since they were out with Dissection years ago... I am VERY much looking forward to seeing what they've grown into in the intervening years. This is going to be a hell of a blast, possibly literally. \m/
Oh, and a dishonourable mention for Gamma Ray who would be on this list if they didn't keep being rubbish every time I see them :p (I'll probably give them another chance anyway though <3) and another one for Cradle of Filth who I'm vaguely relying on to do what they did last time and drop out at the last second so someone I love will get to step in. :pppp (Dear Shining, please mug Dani Filth in a back alley three days before Wacken so you can have CoF's spot?)
