Since my last post about worldbuilding and invisible worlds I haven't done very much, but what little I have done has been gratifying:
- Made a "grab bag" list of minor characters (and their superpowers, if any) for the Superhero Thing
- Did some Restoration planning with laura_josephsen. (In person! Over lunch! It felt just like old times!) :-)
- Wrote 122 words for the Superhero Thing.
- Did some calculations for divvying up the remaining word count over the rest of the year & still meet my 250K goal (I've been so blocked lately that I've come very close on more than one occasion to just letting the dream die).
The first phase of my plan is to "win" the July Camp Nanowrimo. That's fifty thousand words between now and July 31st. I say between now and then because I'm going to cheat and start early on my word count during the last week of June instead of waiting for July 1st. For two reasons:
(1) I want to have my 4th of July holidays "off" for both of my jobs this time around, not just the Day Job. There will be reading, napping, catching up on some TV, lounging by the pool, and more reading. And picnics and fireworks and family and other holiday-esque stuff.
(2) I'm expecting notes back from agent lady on the Shakespeare Thing (I need a clever "in-blog" term for her... something like grav_ity's "Secret Agent Man") in the next couple of weeks and when that happens I expect I'll be dropping the new writing for a few days to work on revising. Again.
ETA: After a thoroughly scientific methodology (Twitter flailing at each other), my agency cohorts and the agent in question have settled upon "Agent Java", henceforth to be referenced and tagged as such within this hallowed blog.
There's more to the plan after that, but I'm going to just focus on Phase I for now. In any case, if I do achieve this much, I'll be back on track for the year.
Again.
