Anyone got some DC recs? I don't care about Batman or Superman, but anything else would be great.

I like the current Batwoman series a lot. I'm not reading any of the other ongoings rn, but I can rec you stuff that's collected in trades. I really like Batwoman: Elegy, Batgirl/Robin: Year One, JLA: A League of One (which is really a Wonder Woman story), Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia, both volumes of Wonder Woman: Odyssey, Birds of Prey: Trouble in Mind (although the series goes downhill after that), and Supergirl: Last Daughter of Krypton. Any of those would be fairly reasonable starting places, I think.

I also love love love Stephanie Brown's Batgirl series but all but the third trade are currently out of print. You can get the relevant digital issues on Comixology, though--that's what I did.

Brubaker's Catwoman run as well as "Catwoman: When in Rome" are great, Amanda Conner's Power Girl run (that has just been republished under the title "Power Trip") is a lot of fun, and I really loved Batwoman: Elegy.

I'm rereading it now that I've seen the movie, and I like it a lot better. Maybe it's just because I can substitute Chris Evans' face and voice for comics Steve Rogers, who always makes me think of Dolph Lundgren as Drago in Rocky, which gives me negative interest in him as a hero character. Also, now I get a lot more of the ongoing story references- the first time I tried it I hadn't read many comics or interacted with Marvel fandom much and nothing made sense ( ... )

I read the Winter Soldier run after having seen Chris Evans as Cap a couple of times, and yeah, I'm positive doing it in that order it hugely improved my reading experience. Chris Evans >>>>> Brubaker!Cap.

Brubaker!Cap is either an asshole or boring, so your conclusion doesn't surprise me.

It's back!

OMG, Duane's face when they reach the brothel....

Who wants to talk Unsounded in general?

I'm definitely enjoying Duane's new face. His reaction to the brothel was priceless.

This chapter looks like it's going to be pretty crazy. I can't wait!

AYRT:

Yep, and it looks like Junkyard's gotten a lot more powerful and dangerous then Nary expected. This should be planned carefully. Not that Sette knows how to plan ahead.

Woo, updates! Duane's face was pretty hilarious. I'm excited to see more info about the Frummagems - Sette's definitely one of my favourite webcomic characters, and I want to know more about her background.

I want to know exactly what Sette is, since she's clearly not human or a two-toe, who seem to be the only sentient races in this world.

Marvel recs? Anything from the last ten years or so, any character. Preference for ladies and X-Men, but I'll consider anything.

New Avengers The Reunion, Hawkeye & Mockingbird and the second volume of Secret Avengers are great for Mockingbird. The last is also great for Maria Hill and Daisy Johnson as well.

Messiah War, Messiah Complex, Cable, and Second Coming are great for Hope and Cable. Cute family relationship.

Name of the Rose for Natasha. The current series is okay to begin with but it's really hit its stride in the last couple of issues.

Spider-Woman: Origins and Spider-Woman: Agent of SWORD are great for Jessica.

There are two volumes of Captain Marvel, the second one has just started for Carol Danvers.

Brian Wood's writing an all-female X-Men book.

Red She-Hulk and Journey into Mystery from Marvel Now didn't last more than 10 issues each but they're both brilliant.

She-Hulk currently has her own solo, just released the second issue, and it's really fun.

Hope these help. :)

Journey into Mystery featuring Sif! I never knew quite what was going on, but the art is gorgeous, and the second trade has Sif IN SPAAACE, which simply cannot be improved upon as a premise ( ... )
