World Cup Sleep Deprivation Diary - Day 24

Jul 03, 2006 21:05

I had an extremely nice, uninterrupted sleep last night thank you. Just the ticket.

There was, of course, no World Cup action last night. Not that anyone in Australia would have noticed anyway. All people were talking about today was the now infamous Big Brother incident that saw two housemates removed on Saturday night.

Seems to me certain parts of the media and politics have over-reacted to the situation. Personally, I think Big Brother acted correctly in kicking the two out of the house for their intolerable behaviour, but using that single incident that was not broadcast on TV as grounds for taking the show off the air is just silly.

Even the Prime Minister has weighed into the debate with this insightful and unbiased comment: "Well here's a great opportunity for Channel 10 to do a bit of self-regulation and get this stupid program off the air."

Thanks for that Mr Howard. Tosser.

EDIT: I've now seen footage of the incident (albeit without sound) and I have to agree with the whole blown out of proportion thing. What they did was certainly wrong, and gross, but it is quite obvious it was a practical joke that lasted all of two seconds.
