World Cup Sleep Deprivation Diary - Day 24

Jul 03, 2006 21:05

I had an extremely nice, uninterrupted sleep last night thank you. Just the ticket.

There was, of course, no World Cup action last night. Not that anyone in Australia would have noticed anyway. All people were talking about today was the now infamous Big Brother incident that saw two housemates removed on Saturday night ( Read more... )

Heh, the first time I've agreed with Howard in about 15 years. ;-)

Personally, I think Big Brother acted correctly in kicking the two out of the house for their intolerable behaviour, but using that single incident that was not broadcast on TV as grounds for taking the show off the air is just silly.

The problem is, half the people are saying it's been overblown as an incident and half are wondering why, if it was so minor (Gretel) they didn't just show it.

EDIT: I've now seen footage of the incident (albeit without sound) and I have to agree with the whole blown out of proportion thing. What they did was certainly wrong, and gross, but it is quite obvious it was a practical joke that lasted all of two seconds.

So - show it.

And it may have lasted two seconds and been intended as a pratical joke, but it still doesn't mean it was welcome. Yeah, I've been told that she got into their bed, and that she asked if they were going to do it and still got in anyway... and it still doesn't make it right.

And just incidentally, have 10 specified why, exactly, the two of them were kicked out?

Okay first, you can view the whole clip (including a good 10 or so minutes of conversation prior to the incident, to clear up any questions you may have as to context) on just about every bittorrent tracker now (with audio) - I know for sure it is on demonoid because that's where I saw it. If you have any interest in the issue you really should view it ( ... )

A well expressed view qey. I can't add much to that other than I agree with what you have said.

Camilla handled the situation well, and Ash and John were rightly removed for breaching the rules.

I think that certain elements of society who have been against Big Brother for some time, mainly because they simply don't like it, have used the incident as their soapbox to call for it to be removed, just like Adults Only was.

I'm glad to see reports on Behind Big Brother that Season 7 is still being planned.
