Tonight Matt and I moved the last few piles of junk from the old place to the new. We cleaned and locked up and I handed him my key. Here's to moving in to Our Place together.

So we're getting the keys to the new place tomorrow morning. Matt and I spent the evening changing our addresses with all sorts of things (phones, schools, banks, DMV, friends and family) and making plans for organizing the new place ( Read more... )

I answered the door last night to a trio of proselytizers. Whoops. I was sad I'm not better up on my bible so I could have a real conversation with them. I told them that I have a bible (which I do) and that I know it pretty well (which is a white lie), but I didn't have the heart to tell them that it's the Oxford Annotated edition. Sort of unexpectedly, Matt and I found a fantastic duplex just across Broadway in NE. We went and paid the deposit and signed the lease this morning. Seriously, when I toured this place a few weeks ago, I thought "There's no way in hell I'll be able to afford this place. Plus, it's too beautiful." Well, I got a raise and it's ours now. I signed a new one year lease on my new house today. Only my new housemate (who moved in this week) and I were around to meet with the leasing agent. Suddenly I feel very old, dealing with business on my own instead of bringing my parents along or calling them first. I really feel like I have my shit together.

Yesterday Matt took me to Jack in the Box for the first time. Boy was that food yummy. We talked for far longer than was strictly necissary. After lunch I saw him off to Seattle (he may be gone for a month). I went to an organ concert and then to the choral Evensong at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral for the William Byrd Festival. I was telling Liz last night that I found the a house that fit all of my specifications. There's cool people that live here, it's clean, they like me, they have a cat, and it's in the right neighborhood. It's too perfect, and it must have a catch. Well, I think I found it.
