He enters the crowded nightclub with a tired sigh. It always seems that he can find her in either a nightclub or a bar every time he needs her. He ignores the pretty young things that seemed to be interested in him as he makes his way through the smoky interior. The bass is throbbing and it’s making his headache worse. When he first spies her, she is a blur on the dance floor. Moving far too fast to the heavy beat of the music, her many male admirers (and a few female ones too) in a circle trying to not look obvious as their eyes linger on her leather-clad form.

Despite the fact that she looks as if she’s completely oblivious to everything but the music, Dean knows when she has spotted him. With a curt nod, he moves away from the dance floor and finds an empty booth. He slides into the warm and dark booth and when the waitress comes by he orders a bottle of whiskey with two shot glasses. It’s an odd order from the waitress’ raised eyebrow but Dean doesn’t really care. He gives her a ten-dollar bill and tells her to hurry. She does and by the time she’s setting the bottle of the amber-coloured liquid on the table, Faith’s sliding in across from him. The waitress sneers at Faith, and the brunette Slayer gives her a smirk in return.

“Hey baby,” Faith drawls as she licks her lips, putting on a show for the jealous waitress.

The blonde sniffs and takes Dean’s money before turning away and blending into the crowd of drunken partygoers. The smile that Faith flashes him is sincere this time around.

“It’s been a while Winchester,” Faith states before pouring herself a shot of the whiskey.
“Not long enough, Faith,” Dean dryly replies.
“Aw didn’t you miss me?”

Faith’s question is followed by a wink. And Dean’s headache starts to throb more and he wonders why he even bothered to search her out. It’s not as if Dean and Sam can’t take care of a nest of vampires and a demon working together. Faith takes another shot of the whiskey before pouring some into his glass and he realizes that when it comes to vampires, Faith’s the best for the job. Dean tiredly sighs and then starts to tell her why he had searched her out.

“Is Sam gonna be there?” Faith’s voice is flat as she spits out the question.
“Yeah.”
“Does he have to be?”
“If you want in on the hunt, you’re going to have to deal with Sam,” Dean replies.

He wishes that Faith and Sam could see eye to eye since it’d make his life a lot easier but ever since Faith had met Sam, she’s hated him. Dean’s not even sure why. Most girls seem to fall for Sam without his younger brother even trying. Not Faith though. And her dislike of Sam had ruined what was turning out to be a great relationship for himself and Faith. Instead of the three of them becoming a team and hunting things together, Faith had taken off. She hadn’t given Dean an ultimatum but she had been pretty clear that she didn’t trust Sam as far as she could throw him. And since Dean knew she was a Slayer and what her abilities were, he was pretty sure that she could definitely throw Sam about if she was in the mood.

Since the fateful meeting, Dean had been in contact with Faith a few times. And it was killing him to be around her now. He wanted her but he couldn’t just abandon Sam, not when his brother was still hurting from Jess’ murder. They had to see this thing through with the Yellow Eyed Bastard that had killed both their mother and now Jess. Dean sighs again as he pours another around of whiskey for both of them.

“Faith please,” Dean says, his voice tired and rough from the whiskey.
“Fine, for you I’ll deal with the freak but if he tries anything or gets in my way, I am not making any promises. Not even for you Dean,” Faith angrily replies.

They both drink their shots and look onto the crowded dance floor.

“You’re so fucking predictable Faith,” Dean mutters.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Look at this place,” Dean replies, his hands gesturing towards the night club, “Loud music, hot guys who’ve had too much to drink, and a bouncer who’s far too busy checking out the hemlines and necklines of the female patrons to really care about what tricks you’re pulling.”

Faith laughs at him.

“A girl’s gotta make a living somehow. It’s not as if Buffy or the Council really pays me that much for roaming town to town looking for baby Slayers or vamps to kill.”
“Still,” Dean states.
“As if you’re any better. You just look for a place that has a pool table and few bikers so you can make a quick buck at drunken idiots who think they’re good at the game.”
“Well when you need a quick buck.”

They look at one another, heat flaring up between the two of them like it always does.

“Your place or mine?” Dean confidently asks.
“Mine,” Faith purrs in response.

They slide out of the booth, Faith’s hand capturing his as she practically drags him out. Dean knows they’ll be lucky if they make it out of the parking lot. It’s always like this between them: arguments about Sam and then instant lust from being apart for far too long.
