Prompts: Written for the drabble meme where you put your music player on shuffle and write ten drabbles to ten songs in a row.
Notes: Set after Season Seven but not Season Eight compliant.
Summary: She’s no longer afraid of who she might become or who she is.

Look at you now
Look at you now
He drinks in the sight of her, she’s older now but she’s still beautiful. Her hair is still vibrantly red and her eyes are still green yet there’s a sadness in those once familiar eyes. Her skin still glows with vitality yet its different now than it was in the past. And Angel can’t quite write it off to the make up that she’s learned to skillfully apply.
Their conversation isn’t stilted like it once was, nor is it full of long pauses as they try to search for things to say that don’t revolve around Buffy or the supernatural or the pending apocalypse. They still talk about those things but their conversation’s no longer limited by her shyness and his refusal to taint her with his darkness.
It hits him when she’s getting ready to leave and she briefly hugs him and places a kiss on his cheek. Willow has grown into a confident and beautiful woman. She’s no longer afraid of who she might become or who she is. And for a moment, Angel finds himself longing for the impossible and he wishes that she didn’t have to return back to London and Buffy. He wishes that she’d stay because it seems to him in that moment when he’s intoxicated by the scent of her perfume and something that’s intrinsically Willow that Willow’s always leaving him.
