Thursday was nice and peaceful. Mum came down as she’d missed Alex on Wednesday, I got the cot sanded and a bit more paint on it, as he is getting too long for the Moses basket, then we went to Cropton for lunch.
Friday wasn’t quite so good. His scan wet well, and his restricted artery is growing art the same rate he is, so that’s good, but then I took him some blood tests. The first Doctor was totally inept and jabbed him twice in the right hand without finding a vein, the 2nd one was better, but he still screamed as I held him down and a canula was shoved an inch into his hand and up his wrist. You can see were it went by the bruising!
Mum and I went back to Pickering and sorted out dinner for 7, Julia, Simon, Lib and Grandma joined us, and we had a pleasant evening, but I was so wrecked by stress and the start of a cold I went to bed early, worrying Julia was going to have a crap weekend if I was going to be ill. Luckily I was fine, so was Alex after Calpol for the bruising and a good night’s sleep. On Saturday the weather was nasty. We drove to Hutton-le-Hole, looked at craft shops, bought candles and chocolate, and then drove round the moors for a while before heading back. Julia and I cooked cock au vin for 10, and it was a good evening, in spite of Dad mowing Lib’s Sky cable!
The other small problem was that I reduced Alex’s colic medicine too see if he still has colic, and he does, so it was back to Granny and the Calpol.
On Sunday we went picking, we managed to get enough Burnet for a ½ gallon of wine, so Julia will experiment, and some hazel nuts the squirrels hadn’t eaten.
We then did an impromptu lasagne for 8, had a nice dinner, and then Julia went home with Lib.
I then had a problem as Simon has now realised that Calpol shuts Alex up and sends him to sleep, so when he was crying in the evening he wanted to dose him up again. I said no, as it mild colic and warming his stomach would sort it, and he’d had 2 evenings on the stuff. Simon then snapped that it wasn’t colic and there was nothing up with him, so I asked why then did he need Calpol? I think we will have this argument again, something to look forward too!
Today I’ve been catching up with the accounts, always fascinating. Simon informs me his parents are over for Wedenesday night, so I'll need to get some cleaning done tomorrow. I am not looking forward to their visit.
