Nice one met office

We had an exciting Friday evening cleaning the kitchen & washing floors. Some of them needed 2 lots of water after the S&T lads had trooped over them last weekend fresh from digging holes. David turned up, observed the cleaning and said to Simon "Are your parents coming over?".
After a prediction of sleet and sunshine over the weekend we were quite surprised to find 3" of snow on the ground on Saturday morning when we woke up. We tried to get hold of Janet and Eric to tell them not to come, but they had already left and didn't have their phone turned on. They rang from the Fox and Rabbit and Stephen took his Subaru to pick them up. They then had to leave that in village and had just started walking down the hill when Nick picked them up in even bigger 4 wheel drive! Luckily we had enough food for 7 for lunch both days. I had spent the day with Janet painting and cleaning old notice boards in the nice warm general room and Eric spent the day with Simon abusing tools, so now I know where Simon gets it from! They left about 5 with Nick because they needed to get home, and I did dinner. I was bored and looking for an excuse to stay inside, so it got rather fancy, roast chicken and boulangere potatoes with Egyptian style cabbage followed by mulled wine and chocolate cheesecake. The boys then watched some British Transport films while I read about the horrors of labour. I know I need to be informed, but part of me just doesn't want to know! It was interesting to read that according to the NCT statistics women who give birth at home have a much lower incidence of post natal depression, so given my mental health history that is another tick in the box for not going to hospital.
Sunday was spent reattaching bits of CCT, so lots of drilling and bolting. It was nice to be outside with the sun warm on my back, even if there was snow on the ground. It was a beautiful day. Thankfully my thermal underwear still fits!
