Chromosome YY

Jul 10, 2006 22:03

So, Tim and I were talking the other day, and the subject of chromosomes came up. So there's the female XX and the male XY, right? Well, it's also scientifically possible to get genetic mutations, like the XXX (triple x syndrome) or XYY, XXY, X0 syndromes. An individual with one of these syndromes is affected in various ways. I won't go into details--you can google it if you happen to be interested.

The YY combination is said to be genetically impossible in humans, since the X chromosome carries most of the information needed to ward off life-threatening diseases and other such things. A YY embryo die early on due to disease or rejection.

Anywho, we were discussing how a YY individual would be a genetic "supermale", emcompassing every variable of masculinity (hello mega-testosterone) and defying science simply because he can...in other words, my friends, it would be Chuck Norris.

I'm teh lame, I know.
