wierdly world war 2 -ish

For some reason, (it may be the play), I've been weirdly obsessed with sentimental orchestral world war 2-ish music.

Here's my favorite arrangement of the theme for Foyle's War. There's a bit of "inside the cockpit of a Heinkel" stuff first. But skip forward to 1.24 for the music.

The Theme from "Band of Brothers"

and finally the grandmere of them all:

Elgar's "Nimrod" from the Enigma Variations played by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra conducted by Daniel Barenboim.

I there are many things that people with taste can't forgive Ken Burns for, but flogging this peice of music to death on "The War" was one of his worst sins.
