"Ah, you'll have to sing that part over again, noona!" called out the young producer, sighing softly and twirling his pencil.
"Ah...Okay.." was the reply from the recording booth as the young woman sang her lines of the song once more.

This was the life of Kwon Jiyong, the newest producer at YG Entertainment.
Everyone who knew him said he was talented, hard-working, and creative.
It was because of such statements that he had decided to go through with his plan of becoming a producer.
He had sent demos of songs he had produced to YG Entertainment, and within a few days, they called him, telling him that he was hired.
Then why was it that Jiyong was having a hard time and receiving such low pay?
His perfectionism tended to get in the way.

"No, no...That won't do either, noona..." he sighed softly, trying not to look too annoyed. "You need to sing that note like this."
He sang a high note in falsetto, his voice echoing through the studio.
Bom, the woman in the recording booth, stared at him with a blank expression on her face.
"Jiyong ah...that's what I just did."
Jiyong rubbed his face and then shook his head.
"...You can just go now, noona..We can continue this tomorrow."
Bom set the headphones back on the stand and got out of the recording booth.
She picked up her purse and went over to the brown haired man, giving him a pat on the back.
"Yah, take it easy, alright? I'm going!" she waved and made her way out of the studio and down the hall.

Jiyong attempted to put the recorded parts in the song, but they wouldn't sit right with him.
They just didn't sound right.
This happened to him alot, he thought to himself, opening his unfinished song folder.
He could always make a instrumental he liked, but when it came to the vocals, he very rarely was satisfied.
His cellphone vibrating roused him from his thoughts.
"Come up to my office." he read aloud.
It was from Yang Hyun Suk, the CEO.
Jiyong sighed, already knowing what this would be about.

Jiyong made his way to the elevator and clicked the button for the 4th floor.
A song by a famous YG-produced band played on the way up, and caused Jiyong to pout, thinking to himself again.
Why couldn't he make amazing music like this?
Why did nothing sound good to him?
The elevator door opened with a 'ding' sound and he continued on his way to Yang Hyun Suk's office.

Jiyong opened the door tentatively, and the CEO motioned him to sit at the chair by his desk.
He plopped down onto it, his face blank.
"Jiyong ah...why haven't you completed a song in so long?" Hyun Suk asked, crossing his arms. "You seemed so promising."
Jiyong winced a bit at the statement. "Sajang-nim...I have been working hard...I really have but it's like..no one's voice is just right for my songs..." he immediately facepalmed, realizing how arrogant that sounded.
Hyun Suk merely raised an eyebrow.
"You're not meeting deadlines...and you know how the fans get when that happens..."
"I'm not doing it on purpose, though! Just...give me more time, please."
Jiyong bowed forward in his seat, and heard the CEO sigh.
"Alright, but only because I believe in your talent. I'll give you a month's extension."
Jiyong sat back up in his seat, grinning.
"Thank you so much, sajang-nim!"
"You're welcome, Jiyong-ah...Now go home and get some rest."
Jiyong bowed several times on his way out the door.

It was not until Jiyong got outside that it all began to sink in.
Sure, he had an extra month, but for what?
To make more incomplete songs?
He pulled his hood up and continued the lengthy walk to his apartment a few blocks from the YG building.

He finally made it to his apartment building an hour later, as the sun was just starting to set.
He drudged up the stairs to his apartment on the second floor and flicked the light on.
He let out a small sigh, glad that apartment was perfect; the way he left it.
He set his bag down in his room and stretched.
A long bath sounded nice at that moment.

He made his way into the bathroom, and immediately heard the shower in the apartment next to his turn on.
"Really...? Do people have showers in the evening..?" he asked to no one in particular.
He put the plug in and turned the water on, waiting for it to fill up.
Jiyong then heard singing from the apartment next door, deep and smooth.
Shutting off the water when the tub was full, he listened closer to the singing.

He couldn't quite make out the words that the man next door was singing.
He couldn't distinguish whether he was singing in Korean or English.
All he knew is that he was immediately attracted to the sound of the voice next door.
It didn't occur to him right away, but Jiyong would soon be aware of how this moment would change his future.
Jiyong leaned back in the bath and closed his eyes, relaxing.
