Jiyong woke with a start, his body jerking, causing some water to overflow and spill to the tiled floor.
He had fallen asleep in the bathtub listening to the voice of the stranger next door.
"Shit..." he cursed, pulling the plug and getting out of the tub.
He proceeded to dry the floor off, and then took another towel to dry himself off with.
He got changed into boxers and a t-shirt and got into bed, only to hear footsteps coming his way shortly after.
His dog Gaho made his way into his room, and laid beside his bed.
"Gaho...you've gotten so big, haven't you...?" he said, a slight smile on his lips.
The big dog got onto the bed, knocking Jiyong over.
"Yah!" he yelled, chuckling. " I wanna go to sleep now..."
Gaho whimpered, moving to his master's side.
"Don't worry, Daddy's alright..." he mumbled, stroking Gaho's head lazily.
And just like that, Kwon Jiyong fell back to sleep.
----------------------------------------------
Jiyong was back at the studio at 8 the next morning.
He had one of his many headbands on, his hair perfectly styled.
However, his face told a different story.
He had bags under his eyes, and his face was slightly bloated.
Waiting for one of the vocalists to enter the studio, he began analyzing instrumentals he had recently made.
Teddy, one of the other producers, suddenly sat beside him, slightly startling him.
"Jiyong ah, are you okay?" he asked, giving him a rough slap to the back.
Jiyong groaned and forced a smile. "Unh..? Yeah, hyung...I'm just a little tired..."
Teddy laughed bit at this, giving the brown hair man yet another rough slap to his back. "No, really? I couldn't tell!"
Jiyong was getting irritated, fast.
"Yah! Give it a rest!" he yelled, immediately slapping his hand over his own mouth afterwards.
His face began to turn red.
"Wow, Ji...Uh...alright then." He backed away, looking confused.
He quickly exited the studio, leaving Jiyong alone once again.
Removing his hand from his mouth, Jiyong sighed to himself.
"What's with me lately...?" he asked himself, biting his lip. "This job must really be taking a toll on me..."
He placed his head in his hands, trying to calm down.
After yet another unproductive day, Jiyong found himself back at his apartment as the sun was setting.
He began to get out his keys when his eyes met the door beside his.
"#234..." he whispered to himself.
He pressed his ear to the door slowly, hoping the owner wouldn't open the door just as he did so.
A few seconds later, he heard footsteps inside, and withdrew, his heart beating fast.
He quickly grabbed his keys and opened his apartment door, getting inside quickly.
"What was I thinking...? He's nothing more than a voice to me..."
But even with these thoughts in his head, he was still curious.
What did this stranger look like?
What kind of music did he like?
Jiyong made his way to the bathroom and began running a bath once again.
And sure enough, the shower next door turned on not long after.
Climbing into the bath, Jiyong rested his head against the damp, tiled wall.
A small smile graced his lips as that familiar yet strange voice once again was heard from next door.
And just like that, Jiyong began what became his daily pre-bedtime ritual.

"Jiyong ah....Jiyong ah...?"
"Nhh..?"
It was 3 days later, and Jiyong had fallen asleep on the studio's couch.
He had been awoken by a hand shaking him gently and a soft voice.
He sat up slowly, wiping his eyes.
"...Youngbae...? What are you doing here?"
Youngbae was Jiyong's dearest friend, and also a singer on the label.
"Teddy told me that you haven't been doing well...and I came in and you were asleep on the job!" Youngbae furrowed his brows, looking genuinely concerned.
"He did...? Ugh..." Jiyong ran his hand through his hair.
"Well, what's going through your mind, man?" He pulled the other man into a quick hug. "Talk to me."
"I'm just in a slump, Youngbae ah..." Jiyong heaved a sigh. "You know me more than anyone...How much of a perfectionist I am..."
Youngbae nodded, rubbing Jiyong's back.
He always was understanding.
Jiyong continued. "It's been getting in the way...I can't finish my songs...no voice seems right...no voice fits my vision. And because of that, I get angry and have random lash outs.."
Youngbae nodded, but stayed silent for a few seconds.
"Maybe you should find a person with a voice you think would fit...It doesn't have to be someone that works here." Youngbae offered.
Jiyong's eyes widened, the voice of his neighbour springing to his mind.
But that thought was soon pushed to the back of his mind; how creepy would it sound?
He was listening to a stranger sing in the shower.
Youngbae spoke up once more, looking at his watch.
"Ji...how about we go out to eat, hm? It might take your mind off of it. I'll pay!"
Jiyong managed a small smile, though his eyes looked tired.
"Oh hell...Why not?"
Jiyong's smile faded for a moment as they walked out of the studio, realizing that it was around the time when the stranger next door had his shower.
